"The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins is probably the best single book on the topic.
But of course, we don't limit ourselves to one book, so read whatever you can find.

The Book Your Church Doesn't Want You to Read
I'm a student of comparative religion and philosophy.
I KNOW God exists due to personal experience, but I am NOT religious.
This is an excellent collection of essays on Atheism, and represents many of the views and ideas of Atheism in a variety of ways. I was very impressed with it and have it still to refer people to. It is NOT anti-Atheism (just the opposite).
I love referring people to resources for THEIR beliefs. I figure that as we learn, we'll just end up the same place eventually if I focus on truth, not "My beliefs".
Enjoy the search!

Atheism: A very Short Introduction by Julian Baggini.
Though short, it is a bit of a heavy read. It gives a decent introduction though.

Read "Losing Faith in Faith" by Dan Barker. It's written about a preacher who dug too deeply into his faith and ended up an atheist, a common occurrence. Anyway, it shows the human side of the story without getting too philosophical or technical.

Try "Letter to a Christian Nation" by Sam Harris. It's a short read and a good primer to why we don't believe in the Christian god. "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins is also good.

The God Delusion by Dawkins.
The ONLY thing that atheists have in common is that we don't believe in any god. You will get different answers on most other things.
