Actually, you picked the wrong one.
It's happened before, recorded.
I'm not a Christian, but for years I picked up stories on the strange. This is one that can happen.
I'm not sure everyone lauded it as a miracle, however. He was in pretty bad shape.
I can't find it in a search, but I'm still looking. If I find it, I'll post it for you.

The story of Jonah is not actually real, I actually got that from a deacon and I believed him. Oh yeah, wasn't he stuck there for three days.
Well no miracles are done anymore because maybe they aren't that noticeable. There were huge miracle before the Christ was born, and I believe God did these to show that there is a superior being watching over us. Also, I think there are small amounts of miracles today because God has already given enough evidence to the world that He actually exists.

If God is all powerful, he can do anything he wants, and that includes creating a whale (or a fish) with a throat big enough for a man to go down it, and even to keep him from being digested. If not, well just forget it, because it does not matter anyway.
Miracles supposedly passed away because they were no longer needed, after the Holy Bible was complete. That is what my church says anyhow.
Why do you infidels keep asking questions like this? You just seem to want to bait the faithful. You will get answers, and you probably will piss a bunch of people off in the process, who are not very mature in their faith. They know when they are being made fun of, and nobody much likes that. Bet you don't either.

It was not a whale--It was "a big fish prepared by God"
If God can prepare a big fish--maintaining life for 3(three) days is no problem. Miracles (big as you say) happened all through the Bible. Jesus said to thomas "Yea believe because you have seen blessed art who have not seen yet believe" The Bible records much Faith is the victory.

First: The original text does not say 'Whale' ... it was a big fish ... and it is probably extinct now. Second: It is possible that some stories are not 'True' factually, but 'true' spiritually - I don't know about you but I've been eaten up by big ugly messes and had to sit in them awhile before getting out...

It was 3 days.... and IMO, it was a story to share an experience not a real life event.
Here is another point of view on Jonah's story and it's meaning: http://soniclight.com/constable/notes/pdf/jonah.pdf
