It is not up to par with the earlier works, but keep painting and the level of competency will return and maybe even go the next step. In this painting there is a conflict between what is supposed to be flat or nearly so by nature and how the eye interprets that which is supposed to be flat as voluminous. The subject matter is a natural choice of amateurs which tends to taint crtiques. The reviewer will be looking for something more mature based on the earlier works. The colors seem unreal and the whole painting looks forced. You took a step forward by returing to painting but you took two steps back when you stopped, so keep painting, you have two more steps to go. Work from nature not photos, and I am sure you will be producuing eqivalent or better than before. I am betting on better.

Have you tried using a fan brush to lay in the clouds and then take a 2 1/2" brush and "feather" the edges?

Understanding that the scene is almost past sunset the painting needs a bit more brightness. Otherwise, a good start. O.K?

Not bad. I also stopped painting for some twelve years and have been back at it for about two years now. Only this time i took up oil painting. If you have time, my work can be checked out hellosanantonio.com under artist name ''Guerro''.

I like the colors. I like the way the waves seem to "pop" off the canvas, kinda like those stupid posters that you use to have to stare at to see the hidden image. For some reason I like that here.

I dont especially care for the loose brush strokes...It's like you're caught somewhere between impressionism, and abstract art. The composition is just not quite strong enough for me to give total thumbs up.

Pretty good for a new start though. Keep it up.

Beautiful coloring. The sky seems to be reaching out horizontally - unique - I really like it.

VERY nice. I like the way you captured the feeling of standing there, and the soft outlines give me an impression of the wind blowing /freshening before a storm.. Thanks for posting that.
