If that statement is worth anything, doesn't that mean that my parents should have aborted me?
I had a really lousy homelife growing up. My mother (alcoholic) would beat on me everyday and occasionally torture me with boiling water and my father (a worse alcoholic) would beat me over the head with beer bottles if I didn't do a chore "perfectly". When I was only twelve years old he almost cut off my right arm with a saw because I looked at my friends' hustler magazine. They never wanted me. The only reason why they didn't abort me was because it was basically unheard of back then and they were pretending to be "good Christians", even though we didn't own a single Bible, just to fit in with the community and be accepted.
Well, you know what, 60 years later I'm happy to be born. I have a great life and I hardly ever think about my past. "**** happens" I tell myself and I move on. I have even lived my missed childhood.
Does that count for anything or should I be dead?

A person never should be dead. No matter what and how their childhood was like and how bad it was. You are happy with you right? You over came your past and grew past that and made something of yourself. I'm betting that you didn't even repeat anything that your parents did to you on someone else. And that makes you better then them. Never think that you are worthless because no one is worthless we all have the power to overcome what we were.

Not really bad, just dysfunctional. I was moved 10 times throughout the first 13 years of my childhood, due to a nasty divorce with my father. I was very sad and really hated myself until I was about 12, and then my mother got married again to a guy who I now consider my father. He is really important to me and the best person I could ever ask for as a father figure. My real dad (sperm donor, cough cough) is very.. baby-complex. He likes to believe that he can do no wrong and that everything is everyone elses fault. Example: 5 months ago he left the country and I had no idea where he went. Texts me today and tells me he's home and he wants to catch up. He really enjoys yelling, which scared the absolute **** out of me when I was young enough to have to live with him. He's physically pulled me out of a car through its window. I got a court order that if I never wanted to see him again, I didn't have to. I've been through counseling and talked it through a person that I really cared about. So I don't. It's made my life a lot more stress-free. I hope this helped. :)

What counts is that you're happy now and most of all, my friend, you're a testament to others whom have grown up in similar situations. You were meant to be, because God has a definite plan for you! You are living proof that we can indeed rise above. God bless you and keep up the great work!

I couldn't imagine a childhood like that. Please don't dwell on the past. God has you here for a reason. Maybe to show others that even if you have had it hard growing up, you can still be a great person. Seems like that you have a lot to live for. May you have many great years to come. God Bless you.

Is this an anti-abortion statement or a testament of how happy you are to be alive? I guess you were a survivor before you were born! What an inspiration. I had a crappy childhood to but know what??? It's over so I'm over it.

60 years later and here you are...that is worth something, however you contradict yourself when you say you do not think about the past as here you are typing on the Internet. I am not saying that you are wrong however what I am saying is that you do think about......move on and enjoy the rest of your life and leave the past behind......I am sorry for the horrible past you had as no one on this earth deserves that however you have shown that you are strong!!!!!

Everyone has the right to be alive! You shouldn't be dead! I think the important thing is to break the cycle of abuse and not abuse others because you were abused. It sounds like you've moved on in your life! Enjoy it!

you were born & your soul was brought into existance to praise God and to be saved.
John 3;16 ' For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life'.
