I know several people that earned an other-than-honorable
A few that deserved and got Bad Conduct discharges! (Drug Distrubtion!)
And one dude that rightfully earned 7 years in Leavenworth and Dishonorable Discharge (in 1999, He stabbed some guy once in the chest, but didn't kill him, the offender, got in a drunken fight, got beat-up, came back with a knife and stabbed the dude that beat him up.) He is out now and returned to the neighborhood!

Two soldiers in my husbands platoon went AWOL a few weeks back. They left base, went to a Walmart, stold clothes and left their uniforms in the dressing room. I guess they thought that theft charges and abandonment charges would be better than a few weeks of PT for asking for an ELS? Stupid.
I thik if yo are that stupid and weak, you deserve a dishonorable discharge.
To the guy who posted above ... good for you! You don't have to like your job to be good at it but it helps!

I know several people who received dishonorable discharges. I was instrumental in two of them. Two of my troops decided they needed to enhance their income by writing fraudulent checks and selling drugs. When I found out, I did what any NCO would do...I made their lives a living hell until they begged for a discharge. Then, I obliged them with a Court Martial tossed in for good measure. They are living it up at Ft. Leavenworth right now. Sometimes I really enjoy my job.

edit--those two (that I mentioned) are beneath contempt. If you were serious about them being heroes, then you are no better than they are.

Yes, they are weak minded and weak bodied individuals. A person who you could not count on to help lift a bag of groceries with out screwing that process up. Best they are out, they would have hurt, or killed themselves, worse yet, hurt or killed there fellow soldiers.

well, we don't know what kind of discharge John Kerry had before President Carter changed it to honorable, do we?

Except, of course, that it wasn't a standard honorable discharge.
