It is beautiful. Just can't wait to get to heaven and see the full extent of it later.

Jesus asked His deciples to give away all their worldly goods did he not? They only took enough money to feed themselves and depended on the love of others to house them as they traveled from place to place. Religions have become a racket in my opinion and most pastors (I have served on the board that hires them) get a compensation package that you and I would never dream of having.
As to the beauty of the church....money used to buy ornamental doo-dads and solid gold crosses and cups etc. is a waste. That is not God's house. All of creation is His...what could man possibly offer Him.
As you can tell, I do not believe in religions or most of what they do. Religions are man made...as are churches and church programs. I am not saying that some churches do not help those less fortunate in the world...sometimes they do...but that doesn't give them the right to spend millions on stuff that benefits no one. I will not donate ten percent of my income so that a pastor can have a fabulous retirement package. I will instead lend a helping hand to someone in need by using my time and my money.

It is not a sin to be rich. The Bible says the Love of money is evil. Not the money. It can cause same bad changes in people with allot of money The Bible also says it is easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go to Heaven. But the Needle in those days was a narrow entrance into cities.hard but very possible to get a camel through it.
People are the church not buildings. God says don't build your castle on earth. No need to adorn buildings when all God cares about is the beauty of the hearts of his children.
Excellent Question

Beauty is the person that teaches, loves, cares, shows the righteous way.
Beauty is the pastor that gently guides you to the path of perfection with his smile, or personality.
Yes, tithes are important and some can contribute more or less. Some can volunteer, or give a little of their time to help in any way possible, yes.
God's house should be beautiful with the Holy Spirit, Grace, and love. Of course, you don't want it run down and neglected, but even if so, it can be a phoenix rising out of the ashes preparing a beautiful way for the people.

i totally agree with you. im a completely devout christian and i understand tho in some sense as to why people say some of that stuff tho. like the catholic church and other churches that are super fancy... i think it takes away from what your really there for. i think people focus more on dressing well and being in a beautiful place then worshiping the Father. it all depends i guess. everyone is entitled to their own opinion. but i believe that is very true for many people. people do abuse the money and the gifts God gives them && to me that is wrong. but if its for a good purpose for the church, and it's prayed about... and the Lord gives it to you... then dont cheat yourself out of a blessing.
God Bless you!
Jesus loves you!

Because a 1,000,001 starving kids could be helped with the commercially opulent wealth accumulated in the "structures" of God's houses...
Helping one starving kid would be enough...
But I thought I'd give you a million more reasons why church's should go easy on the expensive decor...

Beautiful, yes...
Extravagant, no...
Do not withhold the food from the ox who is treading the grain, but do not make the lifestyle a cause for bad talk about the church. It is a balance to be made.
There is not enough beauty in our world these days....

Why do some christians think that a show of opulence should be a norm? All it shows is that they spent their money on objects and decoration instead of it helping the people that really need it.

That`s right. Champagne and Oysters all round, only he best is good enough for the Priest. Why should we treat him like a normal person ? Pass the plate, collect the cash, Sunday is Funday, pay up, put up, stump up, and praise the cash!

I believe his house should be beautiful too. We spend a ton of money on sports and stuff let his house reflect our adoration.
