it would seem to fly in the face of logic for these men to be willing to suffer and die for something they knew to be a lie, wouldn't it? the solution is simple-they were there, they were part of His ministry, they saw Him die, they saw Him alive again, and they believed...

The Bible is a paintings of fiction. The passages that depict Jesus Christ to have been the "Son of God" and a holy guy with divine powers are thoroughly unfounded and is not shown. the individuals who have faith those issues are hallucinating and be stricken by a mass fantasy. Agnosticism and Atheism are turning out to be speedier than ever and Catholocism and Christianity are deteriorating in acceptance, purely like the masses of different now defunct religions that no one believes in anymore and laughs off as mere fairytales. a similar will take place with each and all the fashionable religions alongside with Islam and Christianity and Judaism. I also have a PhD in evolution and anthropology and alter into raised a strict Catholic. I even have come to have faith that the Bible is entirely a paintings of fiction created to administration the inhabitants and shop human beings in line. Use some uncomplicated experience...that's extremely embarrassing to stay in a rustic the place maximum of individuals have faith such nonsense that has been shown to be fake time and time back via technology and history.

Because these men _knew_ that Jesus had the power over life and death. Not only did they see Jesus raise people from the dead, they were eyewitnesses to his own death (and later resurrection), which he spoke to them about many times during their three years together.
And just before he was stoned to death by members of the Sanhedrin, Stephen, a follower of Christ who never met Jesus face to face, saw the sky open up and Jesus standing there, waiting to welcome him home.
No one in their right mind is going to put their life on the line for a lie. The apostles of Christ, as well as his disciples (such as those who became lion food for their refusal to deny the Lord), died for what they _knew_ was the truth. They knew that there was a much better life waiting for them than the one the world has to offer, and I am also waiting for that better life to come someday.
Take care.

People just don't get it. Those who consider themselves to be "martyrs" now aren't dying for something they KNOW to be a lie. They aren't dying because they said they witnessed something that they didn't.
Why would someone choose to die for something that they KNOW is a lie? They wouldn't, plain and simple.
Either the apostles were somehow all hypnotized, or were very stupid, or were absolutely nuts...or maybe, just maybe, they were willing to die because they knew they were telling the truth.

They were willing to suffer because it's the truth and because they didn't allow people to silence them, we are able to know the Gospel as well. They went around to world to tell us about Jesus. IF ever there were something to die for, that would be it. And i only pray I will have the strength to die for what i believe in once the world gets to that point.

Are you sure this isn't just a hand me down story? Sure the apostles suffered for their religion. That doesn't mean that the religion is valid. Do you even know what the apostles names were?
Hint: John, Paul and the like aren't Hebrew names

Because they witnessed it.They followed Jesus and know what kind of person he is.And saw him live again after they saw him die.I don't listen to historians they wasn't there they don't know. Christ is worth dying for.Just as he saw us worth dying for. God Bless
Remember when he was on the cross we was on his mind.Let that be encouragement for all of us!

Kind of like David Koresh's followers, huh? Or Heaven's Gate? Or Jonestown?
What about Islamic martyrs? Baha'i martyrs? Self-immolating Buddhist monks during the Vietnam war?

Historians of those times are known to have been biased, and are known to have lied in their histories. Take Josephus, for example - most historians now know that pretty much many off the "eyewitness" accounts he wrote about occured well before he was even born....
So, perhaps these were stories that were blown out of proportion... Besides, Muslims today are willing to strap bombs to themselves and die in the name of Allah - by your logic, that means Allah is real...
