It does me a little. I am American and he is not my pastor. How about the Jewish people or the Muslims? I am sure they don't think of him as their pastor either.

kinda, i mean he isn't roman catholic so in many respects it is sad as he is not part of the one true faith/church. no offence to any of our seperated brothers and sisters in christ.

Maybe not, but little matters what we think! God Called Billy a Long Time ago, and He Answered His Call. Billy Has WON MORE SOULS TO CHRIST than anyone else we could think of! No One dare to Ridicule Billy Graham. He Is "OUR" American Pastor, and We Love Him! "Others" can call Him their Pastor too , If they Choose. Billy Loves Everyone, The way Jesus Does....That's what makes Him So Special. + + +

Not at all. Billy Graham can be "America's Pastor". If you want to nominate an "America's Imam" or whatever, feel free.

Also, America is predominately Christian still (at least people say they are Christian). Therefore an "America's Pastor" has a little more weight than any of the other titles since he would represent more people.

He doesn't have to represent all people to be "America's anything", just like Rudy Giuliani is called "America's mayor" and I am positive he does not represent everyone mayor.

I think it's very accurate. Graham has spoken to over 210 million people worldwide about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. How about the World's Pastor? Why do you care what godless muslims think about a Christian pastor? They are doomed. The Jews respect Billy Graham, but they don't live in America. Jews to me are the Israelites in Israel.
Those who reject the gospel of Jesus Christ have no say about our good pastor, Billy Graham.

How about Ted Haggard? Benny Hinn? Sure I don't say Billy Graham is the best pastor out there but there are much worse?

you might want to dial down the sensitivity meter just a notch...the term doesn't mean that he's the pastor for everyone in America...it means that he's the most identifiable and well-known pastor and is an acknowledgment of respect for serving for over sixty years in the ministry...

It's an honorific title in commemoration of his years of loving Christian service to the country. It's something like the title "Poet laureate." Nobody seriously thinks that one person speaks for an entire country, but it's a title of respect for the person's work.

I think maybe you're being a little hypersensitive about this.

doesn't bother me

Billy Graham has had presidents talk to him going back 50 years. He's a wonderful person to listen to and very diplomatic and likable...

technically he isnt a pastor anyhow... he's an evangelist ... not the same

It is an honorific, not something anyone is meant to take literally, I think. I am not the same denomination as him, and he has no pastoral role in my life, as a result.

But somebody using those words doesn't bother me. As an honorific, it does in some ways reflect his important influence in American religious life.

Jews and Muslims don't have Pastors, so why would they care. When America has a favorite Pope, Dali Lama, Rabbi, Imam, or whoever else, we give them fame too.
