I would try taking him to a groomer and let them bathe him in a flea and tick dip, this has worked with my dogs because i do live near a creek.

First, ticks have a very slow metabolism, that's why it takes Frontline 48 hours to kill them. You need to have your house and yard professionally treated. Preventic collars would be the only "tick" collar you should be using. I know there are products that claim to "repel" fleas and ticks, and anything that is that strong scares me (I have never been an advantage/advantix fan).

Get rid of the tick collar.
Most flea and tick collars only work around where the collar is. Not to mention, their ingredients are riskier to the dog than something like frontline.
Frontline does not repel ticks. Instead, it kills the tick after 48 hours.
However, K9 advantix claims to repel ticks. Perhaps you should look into that.

Try bringing him/her to the groomer & continue using the Frontine. I would also combine that with sentinel. Because you had so many on him/her be careful your house has not been infested. It can easily get out of control you may want to get your house treated.
I can speak from experience. I have 3 dogs & when we had some landscaping done the wood chips that were put down were infested with ticks. Had the hardest time getting them out of our yard & they made it into our house. Had our house treated twice (cringe thinking about it now). I hope it doesn't get as bad as it did for us. Be careful if you live in a lyme disease state & get help soon.

Really! That's so weird, I use frontline and it works great. Are you sure you are putting it on right? Between the shoulder blades and directly on the skin? I know that there is another product out there that's like frontline...I would check that out, maybe that will work better for you.

Frontline is good. Also the Preventix collar. Keep doing it.
Don't take him out where there are ticks? Its in your yard, you gotta get the yard sprayed.

Ewww. There's a very simple solution. Maybe your dog has really good tasting blood.... anyways, I've used frontline on my dog along with this handy doo dad: http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441807346&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302032960&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023689&bmUID=1180740245417&itemNo=31&Nao=24&Ntt=tick&In=All&previousText=tick&N=2
I do not think I use the same brand, but I know it's in a red squeeze tube. It works wonders.

First, I hope you're keeping your dog indoors with you... It is inhumane, cruel, and unecessary to leave a dog out doors by itself. www.dogsdeservebetter.com
Second, a tick collar is basically a waste of money. don't invest any more in them.
Third, frontline is only good to kill ticks that bite and ingest your dogs blood. (it is excellent for this purpose)
To actually prevent ticks attaching themselves to your dog, do not allow him outdoors in tall grassy areas... ticks are parasites and they basically live their lives in tall grass, waiting for a mammal or warm blooded animal to walk by, brush against the grass, and then they just get brushed onto the animal.
i live in a very nice apartment complex, with nature trails near a lake... Starting in March, when it began to warm up outside, i noticed that any time we walked the trails and my dog went off the trail into the grass, he would end up having atleast 2-5 ticks on him... eventually by the end of April, he would have up to 10 on him at one time.
so i basically just stopped walking him in areas with high tick concentrations...
avoiding them is the only real method to keep them off your dog...
but putting frontline on them will kill them if you don't find a tick on your dog.

Keep him on the Frontline, bathe and groom often and keep him out of thickly wooded areas.
