I once was lost,But now am found.

I was raised Christian (baptist) but I am not a member of any church at this time.

I am still a Christian, but not considered so by much of my church-going community. I live my life by much of the guiding principles I was taught as a child including the ten commandments. I have an even closer relationship with God at this point in my life even though I don't often get to worship in a church.

My Christian community & churches I was part of tended to judge me & because I had interracial relationships and because I chose to embrace those who are considered outcasts in most baptist churches - I've had many gay & bi-sexual friends, & atheist friends & I valued them with the utmost love & compassion, no different than any other friends of mine.

It has been a rude-awakening for me, as so much of the things I was taught as a child - "love one another" and "when you help someone else or when you give to someone else, you are giving back to God," and "Jesus loves you" have been taken back or modified by the churches I've been a member of.
Perhaps it is a product of being in the south, I'm not sure.

My story isn't entirely negative. I've learned a great deal about compassion & forgiveness, & I couldn't be more proud of the life I have lead & how it represents my God. Even though I've been ostracized & rejected, I feel & know in my heart that I've lived my life & treated people in a way that God is pleased.
I hope I haven't offended anyone - this is not a reflection of Christians in general, I certainly don't mean that. This is just my story of what I have experienced in my area.

I accepted Christ as my Savior in 1985 at a Baptist Church in Charlotte NC Hickory Grove Baptist Church. I am not a baptist. I accepted Christ because my life was going no where and was very empty. The love of Christ was so filling that I was amazed, I was raised in the church but went for all the wrong reasons. Mainly to meet girls, That was the wrong reason when I went for me I found a God that could and would fill my needs and did. I soon found that I could not love others if I did not have the love of Christ in my life I would not be able to love anybody else successfully. I meet the woman that would soon become my wife less than a year later and through the love that God has blessed me with We just celebrates our 21 wedding anniversary 2 weeks ago. I am by no means a great Christian I suffer along with the same trials and tribulations as the next guy. What I do is when I pray I thank God for the blessings and the trials that he presents me with on a daily basis. I believe tha by Thanking the Lord daily for both the trials and the tribs I am giving him all the glory that God deserves because he has blessed me with so much . I believe that by thanking God for the trials it also takes away the ability for the evil one from being able to get a foot hold in my life God only gives us what we can handle and that is his way of making us stronger and bring even more glory to his name

My parents raised me in a Christian family. We attended a small Baptist Church in Kentucky since I was too young to remember. I understood the plan of salvation when I was 13 and and accepted Jesus Christ as Savior. Then I was baptised. I knew what I was doing and I knew what the whole Born Again thing meant. I have been a Sunday School teacher, Church Van driver, Usher, and I am now the AWANA Youth group leader for our church. I joinded the Air Force in 1992 when I was 21. I got lured into the alcohol, party, bar hopping life for a while. I realized the error of my ways and have since given all that up. Yes I was still a Christian when I was a party drunk. I often wondered about that but I go back to my teenage years and realize that I was a young teen Baptist Christian on fire for Jesus Christ. I did go astray in my 20's but Jesus brought me back. I hope this is what you are looking for.

Brought up as a Christian as a child - left the church at the age of 13. Spent 37 years in the wilderness [just slightly less than the Israelites!] and rejoined the church at the age of 50 as the result of a personal crisis. Started asking questions, seeking answers, needing to know more. Some 4 years later was "called to preach the gospel" and trained as a Methodist Lay Preacher. Regarded as a bit of a "loose cannon" by my peers, I try to fulfill the ministry for which I have been called which sometimes has the effect of disturbing those who feel too comfortable with their established "religion" [I prefer to use the word "faith."]

Used to be a confused and sad young woman. Walked into a bible teaching church at age 45. Started reading and studying the Word. Ten years later I'm born again, God has restored my life, given me peace, joy and hope.
