What I don't understand is why IDers think that because they can give possible reasons for, in this instance redundant DNA, which do not disprove God, they think it is proof that God exists, it isn't.
Let's get one thing staright here: the existance of DNA s excellent proof of evolution. It explains mutations and natural selection and all those things Darwin wrote about in 'Origin of Species'. Intelligent design people will always find ways to explain these things in ways which conform to what they believe - people always see what they want to see - but were an objective person to look at DNA they would think it proves an existence of an omnipotent diety, because it proves no such thing.
Evolution has been proven time and time again, it can be easily observed in bacteria, among other things. Biologists define evolution as a change in the gene pool of a population over time. One example is insects developing a resistance to pesticides over the period of a few years. Even most Creationists recognize that evolution at this level is a fact. What they don't appreciate is that this rate of evolution is all that is required to produce the diversity of all living things from a common ancestor. The origin of new species by evolution has also been observed, both in the laboratory and in the wild. Even without these direct observations, it would be wrong to say that evolution hasn't been observed. Evidence isn't limited to seeing something happen before your eyes. Evolution makes predictions about what we would expect to see in the fossil record, comparative anatomy, genetic sequences, geographical distribution of species, etc., and these predictions have been verified many times over. The number of observations supporting evolution is overwhelming.
From what I understand, IDers claim DNA could not have developed on its own, without being 'created'. Atoms and molecules arrange themselves not purely randomly, but according to their chemical properties. In the case of carbon atoms especially, this means complex molecules are sure to form spontaneously, and these complex molecules can influence each other to create even more complex molecules. Once a molecule forms that is approximately self-replicating, natural selection will guide the formation of ever more efficient replicators. The first self-replicating object didn't need to be as complex as a modern cell or even a strand of DNA. Some self-replicating molecules are not really all that complex (as organic molecules go).
Basically, I've never seen ID expressed in a non-religious way. Admittedly ID requires a designer, which is religious in itself, but most of the time there are not-so-thinly-veiled allusions to Christianity or what have you. To me, what this demonstrates is that ID is a front for religion, and I don't think it's anything more.

Who do you think designed redundant DNA?
God did.
Let me give you an example of how redundant DNA helps.
Let's take two people, I'll call them Winston and Audrey.
Winston and Audrey both look like regular normal people. Winston was a medic in the US Army during World War II. Audrey is the girl he married a few years after the war.
Both Audrey and Winston have a defective gene which produces albinism. See the link below about Albinism.
Since that gene is redundant and both Winston and Audrey have one normal and one gene which produces albinism, Winston and Audrey do not have Albinism.
But they both carry the defective gene.
When Winston and Audrey brought forth their first little bundle of joy, a very blonde haired little girl was born. In this case their daughter receive a defective gene from both parents so their child has albinism.
In their case there is a one chance in four that any particular child of theirs would have albinsim.
In fact Winston and Audrey had a total of three children and there was a 1 chance in 4 that any would have albinism.
However all three of their children were born with this condition. 1 chance in 64 that would occur.
If you watch the Disney movie, Lady and the Tramp, at the end of the movie you see they become parents of four puppies and 3 look like Lady and 1 looks like the Tramp.
Even Disney understands how that works.
Pastor Art, who could teach high school science
but God called me to be a Pastor.
PS: I married one of Winton and Audrey's daughters and my children therefore are all carriers of this defective gene. However my normal gene, my redundant DNA gene, overrode the defective gene so all of my children are normal with respect to albinsim.

you commence with an unfounded fact then use it to examine a hypothesis - no longer even an thought - to the medical concept of evolution. Abiogenesis isn't evolution. in case you think of id is technology then you certainly lack a basic expertise of technology and how it somewhat works. not one of the drivel you spewed has something to do with the medical concept of evolution. id is creationism in a prettier gown. i don't be attentive to any non Christians in united statesa. that help the failed thought of sensible layout. If their is a fashion designer of this Universe, Earth, and the existence on it then it became a malicious, recommend lively s.o.b. id isn't nor will it ever upward push to the point of technology.

Is there a question there? Seems like rhetoric without proving a case.
There are many many cases of redundancy in creation. The purposes are not always clear; but that doesn't mean there is no purpose.
However, we live in a fallen world and congenital defects are evidence of corruption. The perfection was in the original design; we are not living in the original design, but broken and flawed version of it.
Marvelously, CD's are rare, compared to the successfullness of our species. Interesting, tho, isn't it? Only bugs are more successful than the human species.
Why is that? If not for a planned and designed feature?

yeah I see what you mean, sort of like why could God not create a liver to be able to with stand large consumption of alcohol. Did God not know man would dump gallons of that "disease" down our throats. Why does cigarettes have to cause lung cancer, or cows get mad cow disease when we feed it meat instead of vegetation. We should be able to do as much drugs as we want without having birth defects or overdoses. God even made gravity so when babies get drop-ed on their heads they get hurt. Why the spread of aids or other V.D.s. God must not have been counting on us being so vile to not give us a body to take all the abuse we were going to give it.
The least He could have done was give us a set of rules we should follow if He did intelligently design us.
Oh yes that is what the bible is .
OK,OK i am done. had to do it could not resist.

Why do atheists ask these ridiculous "questions" or what is really anti-religious propaganda disguised as questions.
I suppose you have a PhD in science and you must know a lot more than all the PhD scientists who think intelligent design makes sense

I asked a series of simple biology questions to the intelligent design crowd this afternoon. They failed to actually answer a single one.
Check my profile if you'd like to see them.
