HI

I am the daughter of laplagens, and my parents got divorced recently. I have always wanted a baby sis, and me and my mom have discussed, if we find enough money, we could foster or adopt a child. My mom said she would prefer a baby or toddler. Thanx for helping me out!!!!

If you go through your county, you may be able to get a young child in foster care who may wind up going up for adoption at some point. Have your mom look into it. And there is really no "bad" reason for adopting. There are so many kids out there who need a loving family, and you and your mom may just be who one of them needs!

If your mom is seriously wanting another child there is a lot she'll have to go through in order to adopt. In most states she will need to pass an application process, criminal background check and become a licensed foster parent (this does not mean she has to foster it's the same process if you are adopting). After you go through all of this she, if she passes, she would then be put on a waiting list for available children. She can specify what she is willing to consider. Most adoption agencies in the US do not have many younger children unless you are willing to take the risk of fostering a child in hopes that their parental rights will be terminated. If you are open to minority and bi-racial children you chance of getting a younger child without many problems increases. Hope this helps to answer some of your questions.

Have your mother contact the local children & youth office or foster care program to see if she would be a candidate for foster care. Typically, the children available in foster care are toddlers or older. There are some infants also. Foster care is a lot less expensive as the state will assist with some of the financial obligations.

Good luck to your family.

foster care adopt does not cost anything ... your mom just needs to be certified and they'll pay her to take care of the child. you sound very mature for 10, I know you'll make a great mom (and maybe even an adoptive mom) ... good luck!!

Have your mother contact some adoption agencies they should be able to help her. It be nice if she was willing to take a child that was 18mo to 3years.

This sounds like one of the WORST REASONS FOR ADOPTION, I HAVE EVER HEARD.
