i have a 6 year old pug.. she is a little over weight but not much.... she has always had a breathing problem and i know this is common in a lot of pugs especially in the summer.. but she is really suffering worse now than she has in a while....
some night she wont go to sleep or she cant because she just cant breathe... the air conditioner is on and its very cool in the house but it doesnt seem to be helping.... i feel awful for her and she seems to be just helpless and i realy want to help her...
is there anything i can do for her without surgery... any special tricks to helping pugs cope with this sort of thing... even just a little.. anything will help

The only thing that you can do besides surgery is to help her lose weight, slowly and gently. Make sure you visit the vet often.

Nothink I know of. If you try calling th evet, they may have a trick or something you can do to help your pug. If the vet says there is no other option, then you should do what is best for your dog and will make her feel comfortable, which is probably surgery. Good luck with your pug. I hope she gets better!

If you take her to the vet and there is nothing wrong, then it is time for her to lose weight. That will help her breathing.
Walk her every day in the morning for about 10 minutes when it is cool. If she is not too tired or stressed, then every month add another 5 minutes to the length of the walk, until you're walking 30 minutes.
Also, give her about 10% - 20% less food.

make sure she has lots of water and you are doing good with the air. maybe put it on a little cooler or get a little fan and put it where she usually sleeps. i too have a pug so i know what it is like to have something have a breating problem.

make sure she has water(all the time) and keep a fan by were she sleeps and in the house. try to just take her for a walk for a minute, no long peroids outside. hope this helps, if it hasnt helped take her to the doctor , dont worry she will not need surjery!!

You definitely need to see a vet. She could have stenotic nares (narrow nostrils), problems with her esophagus, or other problems that only a qualified veterinarian could diagnose. She's suffering. Please seek medical attention.
