Rice is a natural food for many birds. Ducks and Geese eat the wild rice to fatten up before their fall migration. Bobolinks are sometimes called ricebirds, and a flock of them can decimate a rice crop. Many songbirds prefer other grains and seeds, but will not be harmed by eating rice.

If rice made bird blow up China wouldn't have any birds. It won't hurt any birds. White rice is not nutritious though. You may not have beenn serious but some readers may take the myth as truth.

Ummm... it depends if you have any pigeons or doves around. If you do and they have been eating the rice don't be surprised to see lots of feathers lying around your yard or porch or were ever you have your feeder. You could just go to the store and buy some sunflower seeds and bird feed. That works just as good. Its probabley not so good that youve been feeding birds rice though. (oops never mind I was wrong sorry.) listen to people who know there birds better.

Yup! Perfectly fine though I doubt the birds will eat it.
Some people will say no because they say rice will blow a bird up. Look here for the truth about that myth: http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/birdrice.asp

I can't believe you wasted points for such a lousy punking.
But to make this a valid answer: No, rice won't work for feeding common birds.
However, unharvested rice is often gleaned from the paddies by geese and ducks.

It is fine, it won't harm the birds (birds eat rice in the wild!!). They would probably prefer birdseed and this would give them a more balanced diet.

that's quite funny. That's a myth on how to kill a bird. The myth says you feed rice to birds. As the rice expands in their stomach, they explode.
Well, the myth is partially right. The rice does expand in their stomachs but it won't make them explode. Give them one heck of a stomach ache though :)
No, it's not wise to give birds rice.

The rice will expand in the stomachs of the birds and kill them. Not good. Unless you are a cat. Then its great.
