One defragments the disk and the other cleans the registry

The registry is a database used in Microsoft Windows to store information necessary to configure the system for one or more users, applications and hardware devices. If there is a lot of activity on your computer - adding and removing programs for example - the registry could end up having entries that are no longer needed. Viruses will also add things to the registry , as well as adware - popups etc... A registry cleaner can help clean it up.
A disk defragmenter is totally different. And should be used periodically . When you add and delete files from your computer the bits of information get fragmented. ''Fragmention refers to the condition of a disk in which files are divided into pieces scattered around the disk. Fragmentation occurs naturally when you use a disk frequently, creating, deleting, and modifying files. At some point, the operating system needs to store parts of a file in noncontiguous clusters. This is entirely invisible to users, but it can slow down the speed at which data is accessed because the disk drive must search through different parts of the disk to put together a single file.''

registry cleaner, deletes text from the registry (Contents), once it finds items (Chapter) that are no longer in use,

lets say you un-installed a program and the (contents) the computer uses are still in the registry, for that program, a reg cleaner looks through the registry, (Contents) checks to see if each and every program is still installed and working if not it will delete the (Contents) instructions.

now defrag is free space on a hard drive, think of a hard drive as a book full of pages

now lets say you deleted a chapter 10 (a game) from the book, that leaves 100 pages blank. You would not leave those pages blank in the finished book would you, you would move the rest of the text forward, and leave all the blank pages at the end of the book, that what you do when you defrag the hard drive, move all the files forwards, leaving all the blank space at the end.... this make the drive work faster, because it is not looking through all the blank pages,

A disk defragmenter works on reorganising your disk storage to make it more efficient.

Registry cleaner is used to make the registry more efficient by eliminating registry entries that are no longer useful or necessary.

Both require pretty long explanations to describe exactly what they do. Here's a place to start.

Think of them as a bookshelf with books and an Index for the list of books you have.

Each book has an index but the book itself is scattered into 10 chapters.

You've typed out your Book Indexes and put them on the side of the book shelf. You get rid of one book which leaves a hole in between the other books and you cross off the index for that book.

The index is the Registry and the bookshelf is the disk. Now you have to defragment that shelf and squeeze the books together so it doesn't take so long searching for another book.

Clean your index (registry cleaner) and compact your bookshelf (defragment).

(When you download a large file, sometimes that file doesn't have enough space (all in one spot) so it has to scatter the information (for that one file) into different sectors (places) on your hard drive. When you defragment, it puts them all back in one place which makes it easier and quicker to search for a particular file and it crops up quicker.

Disk defragmenter won't destroy your pc. it is going to truthfully making it speedier. i in my view in no way use disk cleanup, yet I doubt it has any undesirable effects on your pc. you quite do no longer could desire to run disk defrag better than say, as quickly as a month. additionally, in case you have a solid statecontinual, disk defrag won't help you in any respect.
