I know of a person I just met that gossips and slanders people big time, and really bad. She says she makes friends with a person, learns or pries about all of their business, and then dumps them and backstabs them with all the info that she knows about them. She will even gossip and lie about entire families and their relatives.
I NEVER met someone like this, what do I do, and how do I avoid her? WHY does she do this for what motive?

It's funny but why did she tell me this as if she was just confessing to me. I hardly know her.

Clearly she has issues. She needs attention and has to do whatever she can to get it. This might be a lie on her part to get your attention or it might be the truth and she is testing you to see if your going to put up with it.
True story. I collect religious, Philiophical and Occult books. A guy came to a party as my house and confessed to us (conspiratorially) that he had a huge collection of such books but he never bought them. He stole them from other people. I promptly threw him out of my house and told him that should he darken my doorstep again, I'd call the poice.
Peple with issue do stuff because they are looking for the rush. there behavior is often inexplicable because it is designed to confound.
Run, do not walk, as far away from this girl as possible - or make friends with a mental health professional - because sooner or later, one of you will need one.

Hmmmm, I sense BIG INSECURITY HERE. The question here is which one of you is the most insecure in this friendship?
1. the friend that makes herself feel better at someone elses expense.
2. or the enabler, that knows what is going on, and is afraid to confront her out of fear, that the worm may turn on you??
3. Make a tape of her boasting about herself and the slanderous things she does, Then make copies and send them to everyone she has hurt and anyone else you know.
4. I know, I know, throw a party (or have someone else do it,) and play the recording when you are sure the largest audience is there. (classic!!) Very important she must be there also, and you cannot let your intentions be known to anybody, because, someone may blab, in an effort to get on her good side.
5. **Don't avoid her. Tell her you don't want a friendship with an insecure trouble maker, because soon people will start to classify you in the same manner, and unlike her you don't hate the world.**
6. have you ever asked her why she does this??

SO what is she saying about you now? How do you avoid her? Tell her the things you told us, or show her. This will keep her away, but expect things to be said about you.

She sound like a very selfish and evil person. She probably has low self-esteem. She dosen't care who she hurts. Avoid talking to her.

Let her know Thar what she is doing , and saying to people is grounds for dis communication. sounds to me like this chick is a self absorbed idiot. Maybe its the only way to make herself feel adequate to people.
