Hi I have a sick Kitten I rescued. Mooky is about 12 wks. old,but very small and fragile.I have now gotten him to eat a little and drink water every few hours. My question is he is very dirty from being sick, even though I wash his face after eating he still doesn't have a momma to clean him thurally. Can I bathe him safely without worsening his condition. I heard you had to keep them very warm when doing this. The weather here is 88 degrees,so its very warm right now. Oh and his sickness is due to being dumped off and starving to where when I found him he was, so week he could barely stand, so all the advise given would be highly appreciated.

Until he gets stronger, a damp washcloth would be a better idea than a bath. That'll get him clean and probably help him feel a little better, too ... the washcloth would probably feel like his mother bathing him!
Good luck with your little foundling. If he makes it, he'll probably grow up to be a very "lovey" cat because you're getting all this bonding time from taking care of him. Hope all goes well!

At 12 weeks a kitten should be able to groom itself.
You can help him until he feels better by simply brushing him - its amazing how a brush can make them look and feel sooo much better!
Or buy some "dry" shampoo - there are shampoos on the market that you use without water and you put it on and then brush through the coat.
If you want to bath then get 3 buckets and fill 3/4 full with warm water. Have plain water ion bucket 1 & 3 and water with Shampoo in bucket 2 (its best to do with 2 people).
Scruff the kitten and hold back legs , lower into bucket one and get the 2nd person to get him fully wet, then dunk in bucket 2 and get the 2nd person to suds him up then use bucket 3 to rinse him. Have at least 2 towels ready for drying - dry him as well as you can (u can use a hair dryer also).

If I were you I'd wait a little more until Mooky is strong enough to stand without shaking. I'd be better for you to give him a rub down with a damp washcloth, followed by a rub down with a dry towel. I'd say it's nice and warm for him where you are living. When it is time to give him a bath make sure the bath water is where you'd like it to be for yourself, and make sure you immediately put him in a towel and dry him off. Then place him somewhere warm with a towel to cover or snuggle over.
I'm glad he is eating, however, you may want to consider kitten formula to help increase his chances, until he is less fragile. You can usually get some from your vet or pet store.
Good luck!

It should be OK to bathe the kitten as long as you do it in warm water and keep him warm after wards so he doesn't get chilled. It would even be better if you could heat up some heating pads after and have him lay on them with a towel covering them just to ensure that he stays warm enough. Good luck

First I would suggest taking the kitten to the vets
There may be antibiotics the kitten should be on.
At 12 weeks old the mother wouldn't normally be taking care of it
A normal 12 week old kitten you could bathe but if Mookie is that week teh stress of a bath could kill him that;s why it's best to have her checked over by the vet.
Good luck

if you bath him use warm water so he doesnt get cold and while he is drying i would keep him in a towel on a heating pad on low so he doesnt get to cold. towel dry him real good then get a dry towel to wrap him in. dont leave him in the wet towel or he will probably get cold and start to shiver. and make sure what ever shampoo you use it is for his age group and not for full grown cats or it could make him sick. hope this helps.

if it its sick give it baths because bacteria grows on small animals but if its 12 wks it wont be eating the larger amounts of food. try finding pet medications on ''Google.com'' bcause it may be your best finder in the computer you own for pet medications.
the biggest part of taming a sick animal is having faith that it will get better if it doesnt you know that you did your best and that should make you feel good

you should never bathe a cat!!!
have you taken it to the vet??? because u should probably do that. the cat might be so sick to the point of needing surgery!
a 12 week old kitten in that bad of shape need to be seen by a professional pet surgeon!
p.s. i hope no surgery is needed!!! but if you find out that he does need it i wish the best of luck!!!
