The following is copied from your owners manual
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Locking the doors/liftgate
Press this control to lock all doors
and liftgate. The park/turn signal
lamps will flash once.
To confirm all doors are closed and
locked, press the control a second
time within three seconds; the
park/turn signal lamps will flash
once and the horn will chirp.
If any of the doors or liftgate are
ajar, the horn will make two quick
chirps, reminding you to properly close all doors
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
If I could highlight the last statement.
If you've checked your doors & still get 2 chirps
It means your tailgate and/or back window is open/unlocked.
As long as I've already had to go there I'll give you the link to download your owners manual for future reference:
http://www.motorcraftservice.com/pubs/content/~WO3EXD/~MUS~LEN/41/03exdog5e.pdf
(it's free & you can save it to your computer)
I hope this helps

Some of the Fords have an issue with the door close sensors and I believe it is just telling you that it "thinks" something is open... example 2005 Ford Escape XLT while driving the door ajar light stays lit up even when all doors, liftgate, & glass are closed and latched. I haven t dug into the issue too deep yet, but I am kind of also thinking that it may be arming the system, but potentially bypassing whichever item the system thinks is not closed... somethings aren t in manuals if there is a system malfunction like a bad sensor that happens to be embedded into a very expensive actuator... :(

You should look for your model cars forum on the internet and ask this question, maybe other owners of your specific car have had this problem and can provide some help, usually it should only honk once, i have a problem with my alarm on my Mazda where when unlocking, the lights flash but the horn doesnt sound, which causes the doors to still unlock but when opening door, alarm goes off, factory installed alarm, im pretty sure something is wrong with it but im lazy to take it in, i think your alarm is acting a but funny to, doesnt sound normal.

I have a 2001 F150 and when I lock it the lights flash If I push it again the horn will honk once, I will assure you that the reason is to let you know the doors are locked and the alarm is set, Hope this helps

Did you just get this car?
Every car I have ever seen that has a keyless entry will honk, once or twice when you lock it. I guess, as the guy, or girl, said above, it is telling you it is armed.
Just curious, but why would it honking make you think to check the doors? lol Maybe it's just saying bye-bye lol. Sorry, I'm just being goofy, it's been a long day!

OK well typically with fords when the horn honks twice that means something is not shut all the way(IE...rear tailgate window, doors) Once means its armed and nothing is opened.

On my expy, if I get the double honk without having any doors actually ajar, then usually, my back side windows are open. Hope this helps.

It means that one of the doors, the lift gate, the rear glass, or either the hood is still open and the vehicle is not secure.
