For instance, perhaps I should follow Islam JUST IN CASE it's the true religion.

Or maybe I should become a Hindu JUST IN CASE they are the ones who have it right.

Better yet, maybe I should be an atheist because maybe, just maybe, there is a supreme intelligence out there somewhere that doesn't want us to believe in it, but get by on the rational thinking skills that it gave us.

Or perhaps I should follow Zeus, Athena, Apollo, and all those other Olympian guys just in case they are sitting out there somewhere, royally pissed off over the fact that virtually no one believes in them anymore.

Or maybe I should convert to Buddhism just in case that's the correct path.

The list goes on.

Pascal's "wager" was not about acceptance of a religion or a Church. It was about belief in God. Many of the conflicts in our world today are caused by this understandable confusion. There are three concepts many individuals use interchangabley-
God, Religion, and Church. Once you get past these three ideas, and focus on the concept of God, you can study comparative religion, and will come to realize that there is a fundamental unity among all religions. Then, you may look at churches (interesting social organizations, at best), and you will find that man has a great way of mucking with the teachings of the world's religions.
In short, you are on the path to knowledge and wisdom. Follow it. Don't worry about the wager. We all get what we deserve in the end.

Finally, someone is using a brain when it comes to this ridiculous "wager". Thanks for pointing out the flaw in the argument. But to answer your question, you should alternate your religious beliefs by the hour. At some point, you will probably be right, or at least close enough, to gain the favor of god or the nothingness. I'd suggest working your way from most popular to least popular. So start with Christianity tomorrow morning and switch every hour, on the hour. Several years from now, you will finally get to the less popular Odin, Zeus, etc. Good luck.

Don't start with a religion. Start by seeking the One who created you. Pray to that God. We seek a good God and we know that a good God will forgive honest mistakes.

But are you honestly mistaken or are you using this "which god" argument to reject God.
