Unfortunately Pangel, if someone believes that they hold the key to truth and everlasting happiness, then I suppose they wish to share it. Unfortunately, many go beyond sharing into the realm of imposition and some (when they realise that many people do not wish to share their belief) of threats of eternal damnation, claims of moral superiority or just plain threats.
Given that no-one holds the key to ultimate truth (no matter how fervently they may believe differently), Pascal's Wager isn't valid because of the variety of mutually exclusive religions in the world. The "Argument from inconsistent revelations" would be much closer to the mark (see link).
Love and peace.

PS// I keep coming back to the R & S section because, more than any other section, this one is based on opinions (albeit strongly held opinions) and I have a ghoulish fascination with the huge amount of deliberately inflammatory questions and answers which have degenerated into pointless bickering. Playground fights always attract a crowd.

You know something Pangel because of all the nonsense that goes down here I don't come here much anymore. I prefer to hang in Polls and Surveys more as they at least know how to have fun and how to answer a question in a way that isn't disrespectful although there are some people who are disrespectful on that section as well. Anyway I'm not a Christian but I just wanted to answer your question.

Idle vulgar curiosity. I guess I am wrong. But I have a strong aversion to Pascal's Wager in any form...and it comes in at least 25 variations.

Originally I came here to share (I was christian) and learn about other beliefs. The more I learned about others the more I questioned my own.

I am no longer christian, agnostic now, but I'm still curious about other beliefs and spiritualities. That's why I stay.

Because I like talking about religion and I like the friends I've made on here.

why do people of FAITH hate questions? if you have all the answers, chill out and share your truth. i have only started to look in this section tonight and so far i have to say that the people who claim to be religious or christian come across as the most hostile! what's that all about?
