I had an interview for a corporate type job this morning. usually they would take a least a week to get back to you after the interview. so i would normally send a thank you the next day. they called to make a verbal offer just a couple hours after the interview. what is the right way to send a "thank you for interviewing" letter? what should i say?

If you are not going to accept the job, you may still send a thank you letter, although it will be more of a "thanks but no thanks". It is perfectly acceptable to thank them for taking the time to meet with you although you are not accepting their offer at this time.

If you are taking the job, start off on the right foot - send a letter, though not necessarily a traditional post-interview thank you. No need to recap how fabulous you are, since they were astute enough to realize that. Instead, use the opportunity to express how positive you feel about joining the organization/accepting their offer, that you are looking forward to being part of their team, etc. Mention something specific that was discussed in the interview, if possible. The hiring manager will be impressed - with you and with themself, for making such a good choice.

Write the letter. even if you do not get the job they will like that you wrote it and it might be a job you get in the future.

I have a rule: always say thank you when there is an opportunity to do so. To write the letter just be spontanious and tell them it made you happy or something. it has to be your words. Maybe you think them very competent and professional? maybe you can tell them that is a wonderful attitude...

ASk any questions you presently have about the job, pay rate included; if you have no questions; give them an answer; Yes or No.

No. Why would you do that? They offered you the job, I assume you'll accept. Just show up kick some butt and impress them with your actions. Words are cheap.

I would forego the tyl in this case. the point of writing one is to remind them of you & restate your interest in the job. you got the job, and i'm sure you verbally thanked them otp. that's enough.
