Because no matter how much they say they do not believe in God, I believe that there is a part of them that can't help but think that WE might just be right!
I praise God that I AM one who knows w/o a doubt that He is real and He lives in my heart! Thank You Jesus!!
I keep the Atheist in my prayers because I know what their future holds for them if they do not change their beliefs or lack of beliefs!

That is the biggest problem with religion - Not respecting other people beliefs. I am an Atheist and I don't care what you believe in, makes no difference to me at all. Just as long as you don't try to force your religion on me. You have NO Respect for others. It is apparent in the way you wrote your rant. I would rather be an Atheist than believe in a God that tells you to go out and kill nonbelievers. Atheists did not crash air planes into the World Trade Center. AND you should learn to spell.

I think most non-believers are naturally concerned, caring and helpful people who want to make a positive contribution to society.
Scientists are, on the whole, rational thoughtful people who have a good grasp of reality and can be left pretty much to themselves with just enough supervision to keep them on the straight and level. Keep them ethical and responsible. They don't need a lot of help, except from other scientists.
Unfortunately, some religious folk (not you, I'm sure) are not rational, have a very slight grip on reality and wish to impose their spurious beliefs and rituals upon the whole populace. Some of them up to the point where they will persecute or even kill you if you don't believe what they believe. Scary!!
Like a wise man once said; For evil men to flourish it requires only that good men do nothing. That's why non-believers are here.
Here to help.

How do you know that they don't? The fact is that, since those sections don't talk about religious belief (or lack thereof) at all, whether one is atheist or not almost never comes out over there. So how would you know?
Fact is that most scientists ARE non-religious, and the percentages get higher when looking at only life scientists/biologists. That certainly doesn't mean that most non-religious people are scientists. That's totally backwards.
That's like the homophobes who think that half of all gay people have or will get AIDS, just because about half of people with AIDS in this country are gay. It's an absurd conclusion.

Apparently as atheists we are more interested in "Religion and Spirituality" than you are. Unless of course it's just about your "faith" in "God". Your view of religion and spirituality appears to be fairly narrow.
Another thing you apparently overlook is that atheists can be spiritual people. Taoism and Buddhism requires no belief in "God" at all.

Ok, here's what we'll do. If you can get people to stop pushing for creationism to be taught instead of science, we'll leave R&S. Deal?
And to shaolt, would you think it was weird if Hindus were at a McDonalds speaking out against that mass consumption of beef? It makes more sense than them doing that at a PETA meeting to me.

athiests are fine with your faith they get pissed when you put the 10 commandments in front of a public building or put intelligent design in textbooks. The founding fathers (more athiest than christian) were smarter than the average bear seperating church and state makes us not look like the middle east.

You know this is the greatest point/question I have ever seen on Yahoo Answers (not just the R&S section, but all Yahoo Answers). I mean that is like a white supremacist spending all their time in Africa or a Hindu spending all their time at McDonalds eating burgers.

It's not fascination, it's trying to keep the religious fundies in check lest they start running amok and building ridiculous things like Creation Museums.
Damn! We dropped the ball on that one! Ok, who's in charge of Kentucky?? You've got a lot of explaining to do......
