I've been saying that for some time now. Even two years would do it. They are illegals and they should have a penalty. In the military, they could earn the money it takes to get them their citizenship.

YES someone agrees with me,it shouldn't just be OK to come here and not expect to do all the things Americans do to defend our country. It should be mandatory!!If they want to be American citizens lets see some commitment on their part. Why should they just come here and we die for them too?No one is forcing them to come and I am not against it per sy but they also need to have loyalty to this country. Not just take the goods and services and send their money back home.I do have a solution for the border crossings, every man above the age 18 will have mandatory service before finding a job or housing, every women will learn English immediately and teach their children while looking for jobs and housing. No services to them until its been documented they have lived and worked here for at least 2 yearsThey should be able to send only one fourth of their money out of the country.Believe this is not hard but it sure would change things alot.In fact it would stop the problem cold.Or slow it down tremendously I know i'm gonna get slammed for this answer, but think of all the single mothers out there some who work 3 jobs while taking of their home and children, some who work 2 jobs while attending school and SOME who do nothing but sit and get fat off the goodness of ALL taxpayers so lets put our symphony where it will do most good, they aren't getting extra benefits nowhere.

Don't you think that would be a wasted 4 years? Most of them would probably have to learn passable English. A lot of the equipment is too technoligically advanced for most of them (note: I've said most, not all).

I have no problem, if this immigration bill passes (hopefully not) that maybe some concession be given to qualified illegal aliens who which to serve in the military.

Force people to serve in the military and then say that this is the land of the free.

I would love to see how many Republicans still would support the troops if the military was made up of illegal immigrants...learning English of course.

No. 4 years is too long. That is one of the reasons that people come illegally is because they don't have time to wait years and years. And what do you mean learn English of course? Why of course? English is not the official language. There is no official language but if there was, it would be Spanish.

The United States is a professional army. You do not have to be a citizen of the United States to serve in the Armed Forces.

NO!!! that's absurd.

Well on the other hand if US citizenship was the option and bypassing Permanent Residence. thus allowing them to vote in the near future instead of waiting the required amount of time. Why not. As long as its optional.

I agree with the learning English part. I don't think you need to be in the military to show that your country is important to you.
Some people are pacifists and don't want to touch a gun which is understandable. That needs to be respected. Now if they do want to serve in the military, sure why not.

Edit: People like you make me sick Redneck Woman....

After watching Miss USA get booed in Mexico City at the Miss Universe Pageant I don't think they would like fighting for the US very much.
