I have a bioloigical science background and I say there is no such thing as pseudo-anything in biological organisms. That is a fallacy. Everything has a purpose. Just because that function has not been discovered yet does not mean that the function/purpose does not exist. Everything in the human organism has a function. We just have a long way to go in terms of scientific discoveries. The supposed "persistence" of such genes is surely evidence enough of their having some necessary function. Think about it. It may even be possible that a "pseudo-gene" could be there as a necessary back-up as an when needed for a specific gene, or as a switch mechanism under certain circumstances.
You never know. Only our Creator knows everything and we will never ever know everything. Scientists can dream on in that respect.

I haven't got a clue myself, but then again I'm not claiming a magic fairy designed everything.
