No. We are more of a (I hate the word) "contemporary" church. Modern praise and worship released within the last couple years is normally how we go. Drums, electric guitars, keyboards, brass, etc.

I do sing hymns in church, both with the congregation and as a soloist. But since my solos are usually taken from classical works, I've often performed the same hymns in secular public forums. I've sung at many churches that aren't my own (weddings, funerals and so forth), and have sung religious music in many non-religious settings. Hymns can be sung anywhere.

You can praise the Lord anywhere. Hymns are usally sung in a church because people usally sing more up beat songs out of church.

Hymns are not reserved for churches only. I've sung hymns while flying through the air @120mph during feefalls, roofing a house, tending a garden etc. If a particular hymn really speaks to me, I have sung it all through the day.

I wish.
These days all anyone has is an over head with words on a screen...and they are choruses- no hymns anymore. The loud music comes with it- long gone are just the piano and organ or flute and violin- these days it is rock and roll and loud ear blasting music- I guess they think God is deaf.
