Come on....I want to believe you know better than this!
It depends on which Mexican you are talking about. That's like saying are Americans half Europeans because they are part English?
Yes, some Mexicans are half Spanish. Some are blue-blood Indian. Some are 1/4 or 3/4 or 5/16 Spanish. Some are half French. Some are half German.

In a broad sense, but it's a little more complex. Mexico is dominated by a relatively small, comparatively 'racially pure' wealthy Eurpean (spanish) mintority, while the majority of it's citizens are 'mestizos' - of mixed European (spanish), native, and, to a lesser degree, african, descent. There are also many more-or-less 'racially pure' native peoples in Mexico, and some Africans and Asians, as well as Europeans of other-than-spanish ancestry.

ALL Mexicans have varying degrees of European ancestry in their lineage. Some are actually WHITE with BLUE EYES, a minority, others are fair skin, others darker. In any case, all inherited the European Romance langauge of Spanish, with the exception of small indigenous groups who speak Mayan or native dialects.

Being Spanish and being Mexican are in no way related. (People who come from , or live in Spain are Spanish.) Yes Mexicans are a result of Europeans inter-mixing with Native Americans. (At least as far as I know.) :-)

SOME are descended from the Spanish conquistadores. Those are the white skinned, blonde ,green-eyed ones. And after WWII,a great deal of Europeans came to Mexico to get away from the war and destruction to start new lives.

If your asking about the early ancestry of Mexicans, then generally speaking they are part European (Spanish) and part Native Mexican (the Mayan's Aztec's, Incas, etc.)

Keywords: Spain=Spanish, Mexico=Mexican. Most people think we are half european because we came from Europe, but not every US citizen. Natives have no European backgroud. Why are everyone asking pointless questions nowadays?
