Has anyone ever dated someone and then their partner tells them that they are not in love with them but would love to remain best friends? Then later on down the road that person says that they have seen the light and now realize that they are in love with you? Has this ever happened to you?

Yes because people never know what they have until they lose it.

I have had something similar to this situation and you know we are together still. I didn't wait for him to see the light. I still went out and had fun and then one day we connected again and the rest is history. I think that sometimes people change or they don't know what they want and with time they figure out that they have a great person in their life.

I had a woman friend who threw me out at least five times. For the first two years of our relationship, the most affectionate thing that she said to me was "You've never been the cause of my depression."

We've been friends for 23 years. She lives in the next building. We've gone through some turbulence, and we're not as close as we used to be. But we're still friends.

yea it happens to me all the time. The best thing to do is just make sure you know the person well enough so this DOESNT happen to you. Talk to people they've dated and find out about their love life. Ex bf or gf's as best friends is just so akward

No i've actually never dealt with anything like that before but my best bet for you would be for you and him to talk it out and tell him the truth about what you really feel...if u don't then your feelings get bottled up and then everything goes wrong so sit down with him...just you and him in a very nice but quite place and talk it out before things go wrong...

Yes this has happened to me several times . When you love a person and the love is not returned that alone can hurt very badly but then one day he came back to me and I said no .

Never happened to me, but it sounds like maybe he was trying to get with someone else when he wanted to remain friends... then it did not work and now he wants to come back!

Happened to me.

Had to wait over 10 years, get married to someone else, and then get divorced before she finally saw the light, but it was worth it....
