Visit your local petstore, kmart or walmart or some grocery stores & pick up a tube of hairball preventative. Its in a tube kind of like toothpaste. Look for a brand like Petromalt or something like that. These are flavored petroleum jelly. Just let the cat lick it from your finger. If he doesn't, place a dab on the roof of his mouth or just smear into onto his foot so he'll lick it off when he grooms himself. You need squeeze about an inch for one treatment & do this once or twice a week & it will help prevent furballs. Don't get too carried away as it has a laxative action, (it works by coating the fur in the stomach to help it be eliminated in the poo, rather than thrown up.)

Laxotone works best. Especially if you have more than one cat and only one has hairball problems. You can buy it at any pet store. It's in a tube and you just apply a small drop to one of your cat's front paws and they will lick it off.
If you would rather not use that hairball remedy dry food works good too.

Purina has a Cat Food that is for Hairballs. Its usually with the Blue Bag of regular and the Green bag for of Indoor Cat Formula. I dont know what color the bag is. Also there are several over the counter remedies like Hartz. The Vet always has the absolute best thing for it though.

hairballs can't be prevented, uness you get a sort of egytptian hairless breeds.long and short haired cats decide on established brushings each and on a daily basis will get rid of most of the hair that kitty shed without kitty digesting, or no longer digesting . cats are continuously cleansing themselvs, although, so hairballs are exceedingly much a given. hartz sort makes a hauirball therapy attainable at maximum shops with a respectable puppy furnish section. walmart would desire to hold it, bigger supermarkets too. and if for some reason you cant locate it, theres continually petsmart/ petco. that's basically a pair of dollars and truly properly worth it.

Well there is no real way to prevent the hair balls cause cats always lick themselves. They have food with hairball remedy in it. Just find a good brand of food. I use 9 lives with hair ball remedy in it. My cats love it and now they poop out the hair ball instead of puking it up on the carpet. I'm sure there are other foods out there if you don't like 9 lives. Read the front labels it will say if its for hair balls.

There are food forumulas and over the counter medicine for hairballs. Some people say butter or olive oil works but it's not a good idea.

There is a product called Hairball Remedy. I usually find it in the pet food section at WalMart. Most vets carry similar products. I sometime all a little peanut oil to my cats food but sometimes he won't eat it. Good Luck

also try (available at wal-mart, in a tooth-paste like tube), Hartz Hairball Remedy, just put one inch ribbon at least once a week on paw (they like the taste). have to be careful of cat foods for hairballs (have fiber psyllium), if they don't drink enough water can block them up

There are hair-ball remedies you can get in any pet section of the grocery, or from a pet supply shop. If your cat is not allergic to cows milk, he or she can have butter or whole milk. Just think of it as a treat for once a month. Some pet store carry cat grass. It will help make the hair-balls easier to cough up.
