There's no such thing as a public church. The government doesn't have one. Government and religious organizations are seperate entities in this country as defined by law. Now then, since I like to think of alternatives in every department of life, why can't you go pray at the IRS office?
They worship money as their God....you know....

I think there's also a website called church locator or something. I ran across it when I was looking for a church after I moved here. Also, google maps is awesome for stuff like that. Just type the name of the city and "church" and you should get a complete list with maps, phone numbers and any additional information if available.

What do you mean by "public church"? Just curious.

Check the Yellow Pages under "Churches". Also, many newspapers publish a directory of religious services. In my area, this appears in the Saturday paper, but in your area, it might come out on another day. Sometimes, if your city has a website, churches will often have be listed there. Most churches are delighted to have visitors, so don't hesitate to drop in on any church that you see that happens to catch your interest.

Ask someone the next time you're at the supermarket or postoffice...or just a local on the street. Or my town has a church directories page in the paper...try that! Good luck!

If you are looking for the True teachings of Jesus then Go to an Essene Gathering You could try to find it on line. Otherwise go to a Krishna temple. They have great food and nice music and a discourse on Bhagavad Gita.
