I would just like to hear from some ppl who have used Retin-A for acne. What were your experiences? I've been using it for 2 days and so far my face is dry peeling and red. How long until this goes away?? And how long before you saw noticeable results??

you are already expirencing results..the peeling is a sign that your skin is drying up and new skin is comming up underneath it.
The new skin that appears should be brighter and healthier.

I used retin-a a while back. It worked for me for while

I actually just stopped using retin-a because my skin has totally cleared, I used if for 5 months. Yes, the side effects from it are horrible, so I know what your talking about when you say your face is red and peeling and yes that will happen for a while, the first thing my derm. said was "it will look worse before you see any results" and he was right! I suggest using oil free moisturizer, and make sure your face isn't exposed to a lot of sun, getting a sun burn while using retin-a is the last thing you want. I also suggest using just regular soap to wash your face, I used dove. Hope everything works out!

I used Retin-A for 8 months to treat my acne and I was not satisfied with the results. The drying and reddish did not go away. Ask your dermatologist about a similar perscription called Tazorac. This product has worked wonders for me, and although everyone's acne situation is very different, I would definetly advise you to try it if your dermatologist thinks it's a good idea. It also helps skin to recover from sunburns and prevents/diminishes the appearance of wrinkles!

Good luck!

I use Retin-A currently. I started about a month ago. Works great, but it does dry out your skin. You HAVE to use a non-greasy, non-comedogenic moisturizer like Cetaphil if you want the peeling to stop. Cetaphil doesn't clog pores or affect pimples at all, so it's okay to use it on your acne-prone skin. I have super oily skin, and I only use a bit of Cetaphil after I apply Retin-A to my t-zone.

Good luck!

If your skin is peeling, your acnes are likely drying up, and gradually subsiding. However, prolong use of Retin-A may turn skin sensitive.

The peeling and redness is there for good with most people, I am afraid. Have you tried Proactiv? It worked wonders for me. It's a whole lot less evasive.
