it could be. different chains have different beds and levels of heat...It could also be the lotion that you use, do you use the same one every time?
If you don't want to get burned as bad just go less time in the second one untill your body is used to it!
good luck!

It sounds like the bulbs could be hotter at the second salon. I'm not really sure how that works. I have experienced that before too, the tanning bed that I go to now doesn't work that well. I went to a different place before and I got really tan really fast. I guess different salons just have different bulbs. Maybe the bulbs at the second salon are brand new and your skin just isn't used to it. I would recommend going a few minutes less so you don't get burned.

I own a tanning booth and I think what you are experiencing is just the different percentage of UVB to UVA in the bulbs.
An example a 4% UVA/UVA will keep you tan for longer and darker, but take forever to get there while an 8% UVA/UVB bulb will tan you instanly and only last a day.
It is probably just the percentage of the bulbs, also as the bulbs get older their intensity wears out. The bed you are not buring on probably has older bulbs.
Since you know just go in for a minute less or so. burning isn't good for your overalll results. It may actually make you less tan in the long run because it is encouraging your body to exfoliate itself more quickly i.e. peeling.
Hope this helped.
PS tanning is bad. LOL...just had to throw that in there for you LOL

The second salon may have stronger bulbs or the glass in the bed is cleaner. I go to a tanning salon as well and noticed that when dust builds up between the bulbs and the glass my tan is not as intense.

The bulbs in the other one could be hotter or newer. Or maybe your skin is over exposed and you should cut back to 25 minutes a week (15 at the one that you don't burn, 10 at the one you do). Remember to moisturize, premature aging sucks!

You shouldnt be going to two. It really really harms your skin. I know you dont want a lecture, so I wont give you one. But by the time you reach the second salon your skin is so worn out and fragile it starts to burn. go to www.seventeen.com

It has to do with the wattage in the bulbs. The higher the wattage the more it will do to your skin. I would suggest maybe going a few mins. less (like 12) Its amazing what a few mins will do to your skin. Also, be sure to use lotion after you tan, especialy if your skin is burning a little.

sounds fine to me. sometimes i burn and the next day its gone but sometimes it stays for about 3-7 days. i guess it depends on the bed you're in. and yes the bulbs are stronger in some beds because i do 18 minutes in the bed and it depends on what room i go in if i burn or not. they could be newer bulbs or stronger bulbs.
