I know that they disagree with this, but it is easier to just call Atheism another religion and afford it all the same rights. Atheists arguing that it is not a faith, then claiming religious rights has the same air of hypocrisy that many Christians use when they abandon logic.

As far as forced religion is concerned history seems to show that that is a great way to corrupt a religion quickly.

I don't think anyone's beliefs should be illegal. I do believe there was a time in history where you could be punished quite severely for beliefs of that nature. I sincerely hope that no one wants to go back to those times.

Honey, if you look at some of the laws that are in the books, you'll see that quite a few attempts toward that end have already been made. Unfortunately, I'm sure more are on the way.

In what country would freedom of thought be a crime? Are you INSANE? Atheism isn't even something you can prove. You know what? Inquisition time. Lets go. Everyone get your battle standards!

No.

Because we have a choice.

Free will is important. That is part of choosing between good and evil.

I don't think the government or judicial system would be successful in regulating belief in any case. It isn't logical.

Atheism illegal? Is rational thinking a crime these days?

No, what would be the point. A person could walk around saying they believe in anything you want them to but isn't it what is in their hearts that really matter?
OK but if I have to pick a penalty for bad Atheist it would have to be to listen to Kirk Cameron over and over again until the could recite his reasoning word for word.

No, I believe in free will. I would make it illegal to attempt that...and punishment would be a long term community service.

How quickly they forget. It amazes me how few of these people remember that even in the bible people were to make war with others and either they were to serve your god, pay you tribute, or die. Jesus himself says to bring the unbeliever before him and slaughter him. Have these people forgotten how christianity became the dominant religion, the crusades, inquisitions, holocaust, African slave trade, conquest of the Americas, etc. Or are they so detached from reality that they can't remember stuff they were taught in Middle school?

No I wouldn't make it illegal, because it is nothing more than the "Calm" before the "Storm"
