I went to counseling today, & I was talking about my family issues. I'm an adult, & I moved in town to only discover that my brother just figured he can use someone to pay all his bills. Also he hasn't changed from being abusive like he used to be. I thought he would've changed over the years.

My counselor tries to encourage me to sit here & ALLOW him to use me & dog me out just because I'm in his house. & when I tell her about how he beats on & yells at me & treats me like a slave & takes all my money, she tells me to ignore that. She said I HAVE to do what he tells me to do, REGARDLESS because it's HIS house. It can't be too much of his house if he only sleeps here 2x/week & has ME paying all the bills. So that means if he tells me to drink out the toilet, I BETTER do it, right? Hmm...Sigh!

Report the therapist to your local board with that stuff, it sounds like they are either not qualified, liscensed, or letting their personal biases get in the way of treatment. They should be telling you what is best for you, and that is definately NOT best for you! Find another therapist ASAP and Make sure you report this one! Other people should not be subjected to this person!

Find another therapist, but more importantly, get out.
His house or not if he hits you call 911, file a police report.
If you're paying all the bills anyway get your own place.
My only thoughts are; maybe your "therapist" believes that you can't do it on your own. Break free of everything. You said you've had family issues so maybe you should find a new family. Single adult groups in churches, communities and neighbors, and friends. Just because they're blood does not mean they're good people.
Good Luck.

Something isn't right. Find out you counselors certifications and if she is legitimate if she is call the mental hygiene advocates because she needs to have her license or certifications take way. Please consider finding another psychologist to talk to, counseling helps allot of people and can be very beneficial when it's done by a sane professional.

I hope this is a joke. You should not allow someone to mistreat you. If your therapist is not affirming that fact, change therapists and report them to the state board.

Your therapist isn't even in the ballpark, they shouldn't even be in practice. Find a new therapist.

Please do not go back to this therapist. Go without counseling until you can get another therapist. She is a QUACK.
