Doe anyone else find it annoying when someone posts a question like "HELP!!! I need help translating this from Manx Gaelic!" And half the answers are like, "Here, go to [insert crappy translator site like babelfish.com], this will be much faster than waiting for answers. :)"

It is irritating and also insulting, as the questioner must know very well that it is possible to try one's luck with a translation tool and the whole point of asking the question is to have a proper translation. It is rare to find a computer translation which gets it right, as is evident from the translations produced by people who do them that way. What is saddest of all is that the person who in good faith asks for a translation from or into Manx has no means of checking whether he's been given a reliable answer.

It's a lazy way of responding, yes... probably by people hunting for the points instead of bothering to give a worthwhile answer.
As for Manx Gaelic, most folks outside of the UK (and probably more than a few IN the UK) have ever even heard of it... there's not exactly many resources for it. Quite a bit for Scottish and Irish Gaelic, of course... but more likely than not you'd probably need someone who lives in Douglas or somewhere else on the Isle of Man who could even come close to helping out with Manx Gaelic.
Beside the point, I know--I was just surprised to see a reference about such a rare offshoot of that language.

It's annoying because those web sites are almost useless. They only translate words, not always correct, and they don't take grammar into account. So, telling people to go there is not nice.
On the other hand, some people ask very simple and silly questions, words that can be found in ANY dictionary, you don't need to come here and wait for an answer.

Yes of course! Us linguists work very hard to be good at languages (so far French, German and Chinese). As for Gaelic, I don't know why so many Americans want these bizarre phrases in it, I have never come across a Gaelic speaker in the UK, but I do know a few Welsh speakers. Tut!

It's annoying when they refer to translating sites for whole phrases or sentences, since grammar isn't taken into account. But if someone is asking for individual words, translators are better than using Yahoo! Answers.

Yes, I find it very annoying. It seems like if all of us, not using them since are a pain in the a.ss, are all moron ignoring the existence of this "worderfully crap" on-line translators....!!
I find this people is completely useless to the Yahoo's community !!
