I gym on mondays through to friday, but don't want my friends to think I'm a whuzz on weekends and drink water. What's the best drink and will drinking and ocassional smoking let me lose muscle mass?

A few ideas:

Keep drinking water, but be showy about it. Buy expensive designer mineral water and drink that, but then refill the bottles with your usual water until the weekend is over. Or, get a flask and pretend you are drinking something strong (tell them it's Jagermeister and they won't ask you to share) but fill it with water. The problem here though is that the flask is kinda small.

Basically, don't worry about losing much progress from the gym by what you do on the weekends. The drinking will affect your heart, lungs, and liver more than your muscle mass. The smoking will impede your progress since your blood vessels will have a harder time delivering oxygen and nutrients to your muscle fibers while exercising.

It sounds like you work out regularly enough that you could break for even longer than the weekend and still be about as good as you were on Friday.

Smoking kills, you know that. And smoking does help you loose weight. Problem is, as soon as you quit, you gain at all back DOUBLED. I'd stop now while you are ahead esp. because smoking is going to make it harder for you to workout. And drinking on the weekends is fine! I do it and I'm amazing shape! But work your @ss off in the gym always, because the results are always worth the effort!
