I am named after Bucks Fizz (yes... the 80's pop group), Cheryl Baker and Jay Aston- Cheryl Jay. Very sad decision on the part of my parents. Maybe they got carried away as i was born the year after they won Eurovision... sad!! Anyone else got any funny stories behind why they are named so??

I'm named after Priscilla Presley's character in Dallas - Jenna - cos my mum loved it when I was born in 1985! I like it cos where I'm from there are only a few people with the same name, but I also hate it cos people always get it wrong - I get called Gemma, Jenny, Janet, amongst others (I even got Sheena once, don't know how that came about!). I don't understand why people can't say my name properly!!!

I was named after 2 of my mom's friends. Not really that odd but their meaning is. My first name means forest maiden. My middle name means battle maiden. I never knew this until I was a young adult. All my life I was told how sweet, polite, easy to talk to and kind I was. But if I got it stuck in my head something wasn't right I'd argue it to the death and go to extremes to prove I was right. As hubby says like a dog with a bone I won't let go or give up.

But it's worked pretty well together because most of the things I try to fight are injustices and because of my manner I disarm people and they tell me things they'd never admit to otherwise as they see me as no threat. In Ky. as long as you're part of the conversation you don't have to tell them you're taping them. If you're not paid by someone else like the media or attorney general, etc. defense lawyers can't use the entrapment laws to get it thrown out of court.

Though I no longer use my middle name the meaning of it still lives in me. So maybe our names are our destiny. lol!

Btw Jaime my daughter is 28 and that's her name & spelling. Named after my dad and the bionic woman. The spelling was from the bionic woman. She hated it for years for the same reason and now goes by her middle name. What a small world. lol!

The name that runs in my family (Mums side) is James & for some reason she thought she was having a boy when carrying me, so when I came out a girl she called me Jamie. I now spell it Jaime as people ask less questions about why I was called a boys name or if it is short for anything. My sister (Sally) takes the p**s & says I was named after the Bionic Woman, it's at that point I tend to remind her that Mum used to have a dog called Sally.

Well I have 3 names.
My actual name means that 'the country I was born in would be great'. My dad was right when he gave me this name, UK is the best. His other intention was that it sounded like 'Bond' from James Bond so it got to be quite popular.

My second name is a nickname that one of my mates gave me when I was in high school. I got fed up with people mispronouncing my name (I got something like 20 odd variations of the same name :)). He insisted that I use his name, so for fun I used this name and kept using it up to this very day.

My third was given to me by a bunch of mates whilst we were on holiday abroad. It was during a drinking game and we had to sing our tune if we got something wrong in the drinking game. If we fail that we had to start drinking. My tune was 'eye of the tiger'. Because I couldn't sing, I got caught onto the name Tiger. They must have been pretty drunk by the end of it because they don't remember where it came from lol. Good times, good times.

Alphie - was gna be Alphreida UGH!!! I got named after my late grandad Arthur Alfred. I love my name, it is so unusual for a girl. Before Alfie Moon, there were hardly any Alfies at all. Now I know a few babies and toddlers, which is annoying, but I do like my name.

I'm called Jessica because my dad's English wasn't that good, so he looked in a Baby Name book and called me Jessica.
It's a bit of a shame, really, because Jessica means 'The Lord's Gift' or 'The Lord Beholds' but I'm actually an atheist.
