No, you don't HAVE to take a dump after drinking coffee. It sounds as though you do however. My advise is to stop drinking coffee or just enjoy the cleansing of your bowels.

I drink four to five cups of coffee everyday, but guess I'm lucky - I'm very regular, no "dumping". PS - I also sleep well - regular coffee, not decaf

It's the caffeine...most people have that affect whether it's coffee, tea, soda, cococa, etc., in the morning. Caffeine stimulates peristalsis...the wavelike contractions that moves your "stuff" down the intestinal tract. Secondarily, hot fluids of any kind help with that sort of stimulation too.

Well, preferring not to discuss my bowels with a complete stranger, coffee contains caffeine, caffeine is a stimulant, see how that goes? Also, one of the best enemas out is the coffee enema. Haven't you ever heard of it?

Oh yes! My friend, who's a nurse, does the same thing. She said coffee and a cigarette (due to the stimulants and warmth of the coffee) make you poop. I trust her, because the same thing happens to me!

It's a very common thing, it used to happen to me before I decided to eliminate caffeine from my diet.
It actually means your bowels are dependent on caffeine if you are a regular coffee drinker.
