My baggage is around 4 kilos overweight. The hand bag is already full and there's no more room for any other item in it.

Hi first of all, when i pack i always re-pack because i always end up taking a few more things out. Just look at ur baggage and see if you really do need all that stuff i'm sure you are over packing
i have a problem with over packing and half or more of the stuff i don't need and use , where ever your going you can buy it from there it's much easier and convenient that way.

And yes i have exceeded the limit if it's only a little over they just let me through but when ur way over which i was once they let you take a few things out. You have to !so i bring extra empty back pack with me.
If you already have enough bags well i suggest you to bring someone with you so they can take it back home.
p.s or you might be charged if that's your only bag.

Hope this helps your decisions =]

most airlines allow baggage to be overwieght (within limits) but will charge you extra, so you can either pay up (typically about $25, or you can unload a few things,

Sometimes they will let you slide if your combined weight of all your bags is under the limit, or if the flight is not as full. The reason is that airplanes have maximum weight limits for take off and landing, comercial jets like to sneak some cargo into the cargo hold if there is capacity left (ie, they deliver a few packages for fed ex air) because they can make a few extra bucks. If everyone's bags are overweight, they won't have any spare weight within the airplane's ratings to carry cargo.

They're really not gonna penalize you just for an extra 4 kilos. Once, I checked in with 3 bags, each 6 kilos overweight. I was **** scared, but the check-in lady just smiled, said "Must have been one hell of a shopping spree!" and gave me my boarding pass. However, if you're still scared, you can always just purchase an "overweight baggage voucher" from your local travel agent. It's much cheaper than paying for 4 extra kilograms.

Have a nice day.

I wear a photographer's vest when I travel, so in addition to my computer and the bag I am allowed to take on the plane, I have twenty pockets I can put things into (pockets large enough to handle even small books) and what I wear doesn't count against my weight allowance.

I also once got nailed for excess baggage and found I could use air miles to pay for the surcharge.

The airline will just charge you extra for the weight. However if you are traveling with someone, they might add the two bags weight together and if you are under they won't charge you. That happened to me once.

Of course you can just not take as much. I highly doubt you need everything you are packing.

Oh yea, I transfered items from one bag to another just to save paying the extra $50. charge. Take a carry on tote just n case you need somewhere else to stick things.

The airline will usually just charge you an extra fee for the extra weight. Call your airline and ask what their policy is on overweight baggage.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

We had packed an empty suitcase in the suitcase, so that we had another bag to bring back souvenirs, so we just pulled it out, and put the weight in it. So I would suggest another small bag, maybe to use as a carry-on.

I've had luck mailing some things to my destination in advance. It is very convenient, and possibly cheaper than the overage fees charged by the airlines.

You could try to put some of the luggage into a different bag or you could try to pack lighter next time.
