I think it's different: I'm my parents' firstborn, and so I reach things first: I was the first to graduate from middle school, high school, college, I dated first, I'm engaged, so I'll be first to be married...If I ever come off looking like the 'favorite' it's just because they are happy about my new events. My younger sister and I are very different people, and I am more in sync with my parents-my sister can be something of a handful sometimes in a different way than I am: She is extroverted where I am introverted, so I can be frustrating due to my private nature, and my sister can be frustrating because she's such a drama queen at times.
So, I guess, sometimes I get the vibe that I'm the favorite, but that's probably because I have always been more conscious of my behavior than she is. It doesn't cause animocity between my sister and I, because I do a lot more work for my folks and she doesn't have to, and in return I end up getting good quality time with my parents, which I crave. She doesn't rely so much on their attention as I do.

I was my dad's fav but I never felt guilty about it because my brother was obviously my mom's so I felt it balanced out.
But I don't think you should feel guilty. It's not like it's your fault.
I had a friend who had 6 other siblings and oddly enough every one of them thought they were the favorite and felt guilty about it. I can't imagine being that way with 7 kids. They must have been angels instead of parents. :-)

No I am not my fathers favorite (mother deceased) I think my sister is only because she gave him 3 healthy grandchildren. Its kinda sad like that I had my first child just before I turned 22 she was/is not healthy and is profoundly handicapped so that put a rift between us since he doesnt know how to act around her though he DOES accept her. My sister had her kids when she was 18-19-22 I had mine when I was almost 22 and then my second when I was just shy of turning 35. Sad that because she gave him healthy grandchildren she became his favorite. Frankly I dont give a **** I have a life one I wouldnt trade

No, my brother and I are definitely the outcasts of the family, whereas our two sisters have all the emotional and financial backup from our parents. Can't say it doesn't hurt, but got used to it over the years.

Until recently my parents hated me, they just left me to my own devices. Now I'm getting married, I'm the fourth of my mum's six kids, they want to know me. hah ha. I think they are proud that out of six delinquents I am normal!! Quite a nice feeling seeing as I don't care what they think xxx

I'm not. My brother is, and he doesn't seem to feel a speck of guilt. You ever watch "Everybody Loves Raymond"? I try very hard not to act like Robert, who is the oldest, the not-favorite, and very resentful.

I think parents should only have one because they always have a favorite, and it is unfair.
I'm an only child, and I would have liked siblings, but then I see how f*cked up my parents relationships with my grandparents have been because my grandparents had favorites.
