She's turning 71 tomorrow, but I'm not seeing her until Sunday. She really has much of what she needs -- at that age, you know... -- She is classy, fashionable, stylish and doesn't need orthotics or anything crazy like that, so please don't give me those kinds of suggestions. :-)

I'm thinking perhaps some Chanel perfume....... But I am way open to suggestions.
HELP! :-) THANK YOU!

She's a former artist and teacher - quite intellectual. Into the arts and literature, the Rat Pack-type stuff......

Plan a trip to an art show showcasing local artists? Perfume or a gift card to a fancy boutique would be nice, too.

If you can find lots of pictures that this Mother is in that are special or of her children and spouse--you can buy a poster frame and put all the pictures in a collage and give it to her--when my daughter graduated from nursing school, I had very little money so I did this for her Graduation party--She cried when she opened it up! She hugged me for it! or

You can make her a basket with things just for her--bath stuff--etc and put a nice bow on it. She would like that I bet!

A box of Fannie Mae candies and a good romance novel. Old ladies love romance novels

Take some plain paper and make it into a little book, then write or draw pictures of your memories of things she has done for/with you that you remember fondly.

I made one of these little "cartoon-type" books for my Dad when he was in his 70's (and I was in my 40's!), and when he died in his late 80's, we found it in the drawer next to his bed. Mom said he often looked at it before he went to sleep at night.

Sometimes the little things that take time and effort, but cost almost nothing money-wise, are the best presents!

How about a RED HAT and a membership to the local RED HAT SOCIETY?

:)

Chanel perfume is also a TIMELESS choice.

Just spend the day with her. Take her to lunch, hit the park or go shopping.

How about a spa certificate? Or mani/pedi certificate? Or trip to hairdresser?

I think she would enjoy a vase full of her favorite flowers, I'm sure she'll enjoy that.
