I just washed my hair and when I got out I noticed some white in one spot. so I moved the hair, and in that one spot my scalp is like coming off, I scratched it and I didn't even feel it and chunks of skin came off, the rest of my head is fine. and when I scratch it feels normal. so I scratched all the dead scalp away and now it feels normal. what was that it? wasn't dry and itchy.
could it be buildup or dandruff. it was like dead skin on my scalp.... I have no clue what this is?

It was just probably dead skin build up in an area that you missed a few times shampooing.

To avoid this in future, comb or brush out your hair well before shampooing. Be sure to emulsify your shampoo a bit by rubbing it between your hands w/ a bit of water before applying it to your scalp. Massage your entire scalp vigorously. Then rinse out for longer than usual. If you have thick hair, apply conditioner to the ends only and then gently comb through your hair w/ a wide tooth comb. Massage your scalp gently as you rinse.

The flaking could also be due to product build up. Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo is an excellent clarifying shampoo. Use it about once a week.

Dandruff consists of tiny pieces of dead skin that are stripped from the scalp and are the products of metabolism. Usually, in the beginning stages dandruff cannot be seen with the naked eyes. But in the later stages, it grows into pieces of dead skin due to spread of bacteria or seborrhoeic scalp problems. This is called dandruff and is easily visible.

it is either dandruff or maybe it is some old shampoo/conditioner left from your last shower that looked white and flaky. No Worries! ;)
