I'm trying to learn a breathing technique (from a site) and it says to pull on the inhale into the upper chest? How exactly is that? To just let my upper chest expand by letting air in ?

Yeah that sounds about right, but its kind of a weird procedure. I had to breath from the chest when i took some singing lessons and my teacher explained that its not just pushing your chest out when you breath, its all about not lifting your shoulders. to practice try laying on your back and breathing while being aware of how your body reacts. this works because it is actually imposible to breath from your shoulders when laying down. Hope this helped.

That's weird, La Maze is a technique for women to use during pregnancy, it requires upper chest breathing. Many people do not breath into the lower lobes of the lungs, so much stress in life. If you were trying to breath into your lower lungs, you would lay on your back, and exaggerate the lower abdomen rising as you breathe. So, if you are just trying to breathe into the upper lobes, watch a dog. You probably are just breathing into the upper anyway.

i think it means inhaling and letting the air fill ur upper chest instead of inflating ur stomach

To breathe correctly you actually have to breathe in and push your stomach out. A deep breath should be taken in from your nose as you inhale your stomach pushes out.

wow, quick to the gun and so very wrong. do not listen to the person that told you to breathe correctly you need to inflate your stomach, AS THAT WOULD BE WRONG.

It is telling you to breathe and fill your chest, listen to the guy about laying down... he is on to something.
