and plan on having a reception when we return. Is it okay if it is about a month after we get back?

A month would be great, gives you time to unwind from all the excitement, get set in your house, back in a routine, get settled at work and still have time to plan your reception.

Sounds perfect. Just dont go pass the 6-8 week mark. Just a hint, maybe a reception that is not too formal, but rather laid back and fun. Enjoy your wedding & Congrats.

Actually, it's perfect timing...due to weather constraints, we're marrying in February and having a "reception" in July, which is a huge lag of time, but we are really set on having something outdoors, and we live in PA, so it has to be summer, which means a delay between teh wedding and party...we talked to many of our friends and family and they're very supportive of our thing, so I'm sure yours would feel the same way!

I think that is probably fine. I have a friend who went to Vegas to get married. They had a reception about a month after their marriage and it was just great.

Have a great honeymoon and congrats!

Sounds great! It will give you enough time to clam down from the chaos of the wedding and be ready to take care of last minute reception details. Plus, by then you'll be ready to celebrate your marriage again! Congrats!

It's your wedding, do what ever is best for the two of you. One month is more than reasonable. I'm getting married in Sept and use theknot.com a lot for ideas. They have a chat room just for destination weddings, you should check it out. Congratulations! :o)

Yes, many people do that when they are having their wedding at a destination. I think a month is proper timing, but I would NOT ppush it passed that.

There is anything very essential approximately vacation spot weddings that a few brides and grooms simply don't realise. It fees your visitors particularly somewhat of cash and that's a enormous economic burden on them to drive them to take a excursion and pay for it. Many individuals simply can't find the money for to up and depart on a airplane, take off from paintings, lose pay, pay for pricey air fare, lodge remains, 3 eating place foods an afternoon, condo vehicles, a marriage ceremony reward and the price of air port parking all of the at the same time. You are speaking hundreds of thousands for a pair right here. You with ease can't announce a time whilst everybody has to take a excursion and count on everybody to be completely satisfied approximately going into debt or not able to wait considering that of cash problems. Regardless in case you introduced this 2 years in the past so they have got time to save lots of, it nonetheless fees cash to get there and again. Destination weddings lower your expenses just for the bride and groom considering that the invitation record is tiny and they're already on their honeymoon proper then and there. EDIT: for your main points: So, it's going to price approximately $two,000. according to couple and also you consider that's reasonable considering that you're insisting they reward you with their presence instead than shopping a marriage ceremony reward? Sweetheart, you're means off monitor right here in case you rather consider that individuals could have given you an man or woman $930.00 marriage ceremony reward in case you received married in the direction of residence. You see, you're a kind of brides who attempt to rationalize some thing you wish, even though it is not sensible in any respect. Like I mentioned, you marriage ceremony will price hundreds of thousands for a pair. How reasonable is that for 3 days of a pressured household "excursion"?? Are you actually going to inform me that you simply and your fiance could spend 2 grand on a marriage ceremony reward if it used to be now not a vacation spot marriage ceremony? I didn't consider so. I don't blame your household for now not being excited to have this cling over their head: to opt for to enter debt or pass over your marriage ceremony is striking them in an excessively unfair role. Very unfair.

Perfect we had one two weeks later as we married on the island of St. Thomas with close family!
My parents threw us a reception two weeks later. It was nice.
Yours should be too!

I think you can do whatever you like. It is your wedding. You have to be sensitive to the relatives of both sides though. A month is acceptable for me.
