Two different kinds of jealousy.
Exodus 20:5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
God doesn't want His people who are called by His name to have other gods before Him. I am a Christian and I follow Christ and carry God's name so I cannot worship in an Islamic Mosque or in a Buddhist Temple.

The Ten Commandments,
Exodus 20: 3-17 / Deuteronomy 5: 7-21
"For I, the Lord am a jealous god."
The apostle Paul describes jealousy as a work of the flesh and that it will prevent you from entering into heaven:
Galatians 5: 20,21
Synonyms for jealousy include: Envy.
Envy, according to Christianity is a
"deadly sin"
This is your god.
"If God kills, lies, cheats, discriminates, and otherwise behaves in a manner that puts the
Mafia to shame, that's okay, he's God. He can do whatever he wants. Anyone who adheres to this philosophy has had his sense of morality, decency, justice and humanness warped beyond recognition by the very book that is supposedly preaching the opposite."

Actually, God SAYS in the Bible, "I am a jealous God".
But there's a difference between God's Jealousy and ours. Humans are jealous out of fear of losing someone/something. God is jealous because He doesn't want US to lose out in having a relationship with Him because of some stupid lump of clay or wood.

God IS a jealous God. Why do you think He made the first commandment "Thou shall have no other gods before me"? As the Creator, He has that right!
WE are not to be jealous / covet, because WE are supposed to trust God to supply our needs and we are to be thankful for the blessings He provides. The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away...

This phrase is not about sin, it is referring to the fact that God gave the commandment that we should have no other gods before him. In the Bible, when Moses go up the mountain to be with God, one of the instructions he leaves with the Israelites is to have no other gods. Moses is gone for a while and the Israelites get impatient and start making there own idols to worship. This goes over like a fart in church, please excuse the expression.

They'd say the rules don't apply to god, only to us. Okay, I can live with that... I can't live with a god that kills everything in sight because some of the people don't know about him and have other gods though. That type of god needs some anger management counseling.

That is a scary concept.
Imagine if someone said "MY SPOUSE IS A JEALOUS SPOUSE!!!"
People would wonder what is wrong with your spouse and why you married them in the first place.
I don't know if jealousy is a sin but it is definitely a low, base, immature attitude.

Yes, I've heard of it. Christianity created the concept of god. They gave him a masculine gender and many human traits - because that is what we know. God supposedly loved his children so much that he did not want them worshipping other lesser gods. Hence, My God is a jealous God.
