You definitely should see a physician. You could, for example, have an electrolyte imbalance (such as hypocalcemia) or an endocrine disorder (such as diabetes). By taking a detailed health history, giving you a thorough examination, and ordering appropriate lab tests, your doctor can help you find the reason for your symptoms and treat them.

I guess that my first question is why do you have a heart doctor? What kind of underlying medical conditions do you have? As for the tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), it is a somewhat uncommon side effect. Although, if you have an underlying heart disease you may be predisposed to arrythmias. Your age may also play a role in how well you tolerate the fast heart rate. If at any time you get short of breath, light headed, or have chest pain you should seek emergency care immediately. CALL AN AMBULANCE--DO NOT DRIVE!! The half-life of prednisolone (the active part of prednisone) is about 3-4 hrs/dose, but if you are at the end of your course, it may take a few days to completely clear your system. Hope you get feeling better soon.

Without more information, there's no telling what is causing this. It could be a symptom of a neurological problem or an an allergic reaction to something. What were you doing before the symptoms started? If this occurred within an hour or less from eating, it could be an allergic reaction to food. If these symptoms occur for no apparent reason, you need to see a neurologist for a diagnosis. Don't ignore this - some pretty serious neurological problems can start with these types of symptoms.
