If you often travel outside of the US or relate with the world beyond our boundaries you will absolutely know that people think we are fools. You ask why?

First, we're so emotional that we feed, shelter and equip our enemies. We save others and neglect our own; we fool ourselves by trying to make the world believe that all is well with us and all we have to do is solve their problems.
Even when we catch terrorists, we play a good host giving them not only food & clothes but also utilities that they never enjoyed from the miserable lives they lived. In 'prison', we also give them the same books that instigated them against us in the first place. They must be having a good laugh!
I don't know if I'm the only one feeling sick and tired of this stupidity.

I agree. Maybe we should remember that the terrorists we are spoiling are in "prison" for a reason.

Stop feeling foolish and feel Proud
The book we give the prisoner is not the problem it is the translation of the book by (for the lack of another word) Evil Does. The book is the Word of Allah and if they can sit and read the true meaning than they will see peace not hate.

It has always been the American way to feed and shelter others, if they can see how caring of a country we really r than they will stop hating us, and stop believing all the lies about us.

We are a very emotional nation and we do not take great care of our own, but we do have some very good systems in place to help the needy. I think they are grossly mismanaged and need to be overhauled, but they are in place. We also voice our opinion about these systems, sometimes not having all the facts, or not thinking about why our people are in need

This is a Great Country and don't let anyone change your mind about that.

I know there are plenty outside of the US that would think the US is foolish, but not necessarily for the reasons you provide.

What texts that incite violence against the US have been given to the terrorists? What is it in the texts that is instigating these people to turn?

How does your description of "play[ing] a good host" to the caught terrorists mate up with descriptions of horrible treatment of captured "terrorists" and the capture and confinements of "suspected terrorists" without any charges against them?

Who are the "enemies" getting fed, sheltered and equipped? Are poor citizens in countries with unstable governments enemies for being in those countries?

Aside from those that you mentioned, though, there are plenty of reasons for others in other countries to call the US fools. I think you are being very short-sighted to not see the "real reasons".

In my opinion, we are fools for continuing to elect leaders who don't truly serve the wants and needs of the American people. The average Joe feels the way that you do too but the politicians make their decisions based on lobby's and not constituents. I think we should stop giving money to all the countries of the world, especially the ones that hate us. We can use that money to help our poor and homeless and to pay our military a decent wage. We should also stop worrying so much about tip toeing around people's feelings and stick to some consistent laws in this country. For example, this is America, we speak English here! I love this country but I don't think our priorities are in order when it comes to the government.

Yes,most people do think Americans are fools but not in the way you see it.They think the Americans are naive, and very ignorant of what's is happening outside their country. They don't seem to know it's a much bigger world out there and there are alot of other things apart from those they see in their own country. They don't seem to travel alot like people from other nations and some 've never been out of their country.Hence their knowledge is very limited yet they wouldn't know that. They should know more about what's going on in this world, read more ,travel more and to be more knowledgeable .The Americans are friendly people I do like them.I am no American.

I really didn't like being called a fool. I dont think I am - but, I am american. I didnt choose to do the things that you are talking about though.

I agree that there has been some foolishness.

It's because of greed - someone "higer up" is always making money off of the foolishness.

i agree with you, but doing this the States isnt degrading itself, but at the same time, a nation has to be aware of it's own safety instead of being too kindhearted all the time. the only outcome for all this are terrorist attacks and such. I would agree, it's quiet foolish.

If we did not feed, clothe and shelter our enemies we would be called savage. I don't think we neglect our own but if we did not funnel so much money into other nations and charities we would again be criticized for being isolationists and elitists. I understand your frustration but no matter what we do we ill be criticized.
