...yet we love to watch the OC, The Hills, Melrose Place, Beverly Hills 90210, and now this new show Hidden Palms?

For those who claim all this stuff about California, you sound kind of ignorant. Stop watching what you see on t.v. is the whole point of this topic because that is not the whole state. Plus when you do come here to sight see, you go to stupid places like Hollywood and ride that dumb little bus. Duh! How would you like it if I just sound that the entire south is just full of red neck hicks who are rude and racist? That's not true for everyone. You guys are delerious. Go to Lancaster, CA or even Little Rock, CA. Get a clue...

What's to hate? It probably just like every other state in the union. All areas have their good and bad. Rich and poor sections. Just because you like or don't like a TV show that was filmed in California. A lot of movies look like they are in other states and they aren't even filmed in the United States. It's a movie or a TV show. It appears to be a certain way because of the story.
Why don't you go to California and see for yourself. I would love to visit or maybe live in California but it's too far for me to go right now. I live in another beautiful state called Virginia. I believe that all of our states have their big cities, small towns and even what some call in the country. They all have the run down sections where you can't see it but you can smell garbage like the streets are washed with it.
Do you think those people like to live that way? Most of those people don't even know how bad they really have it; it's all they have ever had. Some get educated and get out of there.
Those TV shows you mentioned are fantasy. That's not real life. Go and see real life for yourself.
Another thing; look up on line some of the shows that you mentioned and see where they were filmed. And notice where the story was supposed to be.

Hopefully, not everyone "dislikes" CA--such seems unlikely, eh? I've lived in SoCal and now in NoCal. The South is a bit too crowded, etc. The North has plenty of open space still--once outside the Bay area and its closer neighbors.
Real estate is quite expensive, but looking diligently helps. Where i am is quite amazing and almost affordable, very scenic and not crowded. The weather is a blessing, especially when there are no chemtrails to mar the clear blue sky and our health and well being :))
I've lived in many places, and CA is among the finest :)))

Because you guys consistently have really good ideas, then you let your local govt fall to pressure from outside organizations. Like the idea you guys had that spurred technological advances in the automotive industry. You demanded that all manufacturers selling cars in Cali had to offer an electric car. It looked to us (outside observers) like it was going really great, and then your local political reps caved to the federal govt, big oil and the auto manufacturers. Yeah sure you have a proto-type hydrogen gas station... Arnold however is like the only person that has a hydrogen hummer....
You guys have come up with several good ideas on immigration and border security but...
At least you guys "try" to do something and that is kewl. Not like Texas, our governor is more concerned right now with legislating our morals..... anyway.

It isn't necessarily the whole state of California--I just have a distaste for the stick figure chicks who never eat ie: Nicole Ritchie. I also get tired of hearing about what Paris, Lindsay, and Britney do every waking moment.

one thing is its almost impossible to afford to live there, and who made the rule that you must pay out your *** to enjoy what California has to offer? Nice climate, beaches, mountains, etc. How fair is that? I seen houses under 900 square feet, like 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom sell for half a million dollars. Does no one else see anything wrong with that?

I dislike California from an environmental/socio-economic reason:
California was originally a desert. And yet it sustains so much by draining the resources from surrounding areas. So much water...
The people there are great though. Too bad they live in such an awkward state.

Arrogance and the ostentatious display of greed and lack of morals.
Many parts of California are so out of touch with the rest of the US.

Why do you assume everyone who is not from California hates the state? I, nor anyone I know, has anything against California.
