But I'm also an ethnic white Briton. How can I be scared of myself? I don't want to gag anyone, but I do want to tell people when I find their views objectionable, like yours.

I don't want to re-write our long and proud history. But I don't like your version of it which only puts in the bits that appeal to your ideology.

I like living in the UK and I'm very proud to do so. I love this country's history, I believe that my country has contributed good to the world out of all proportion to its size, and I can see some of the mistakes we have made. But that doesn't make me unpatriotic. My love for my country is not blind, like yours Jim - mine is a reasoned love, not some blinkered ideology.

And yes, one of the things I love about this country is our acceptance of outsiders and their ways. We have become great by assimilation of new ideas, not by ignoring things we don't understand and hoping they'll go away.

As a nutty liberal I have to say that it is a small world! We are multi-cultural as are a lot of other places. Why do you think this country should be all white? I think that's what you're saying but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. As for our very long and proud history, I'm not particularly proud of a lot of things this country has done in the past ie slavery, forcing christianity down the throats of other countries etc. etc.

How depressing that questions like this just seem to be increasingly common. It`s true that Britain is becoming more like America everyday. What is crackpot about liberalism? Is it really crackpot to be moderate in ones views? Can only right wing extremists be sane? I agree with the "long" part of history, but I don't know about proud. I have nothing against whites, but you can't pretend like whites have done everything right throughout history. Don't make me have to pull out my magnifying glass now...
