You would definitely want speed but stamina is pretty much mandatory. I remember my first time trying it out as part of our phys.ed module and their "warmup" is a little more than just that. These guys work hard and you will need the endurance to keep up.
I hope you can develop some strong legs too because you have to be able to take a kick, possibly alot more to the thighs. Alot of people will tell you that some kicks will feel like getting hit with a baseball bat.
If you have been keeping actively fit than it shouldn't be much of a problem starting out.

Just to try it all you need is to be tough
To become very good you need every conceivable athletic combination speed, strength, power, endurance, heart etc etc

you need to pay attention
you need to want to learn it
you need to think of proper form before power
you need to learn to breathe correctly
you need a GOOD instructor
you need to stretch out and warm up correctly
you need to learn both OFFENCE AND DEFENCE
( punching a heavy bag wont teach you both)
you need to stay on your toes and have good footwork
( circle ,circle ,circle cut your corners)
most of all
you need to show up for class and commit
give 100 % yet still show control .
