In the Book of Genesis, God clearly states
for example: an evening and a morning were the first day, etc....
The reason God said it that way is so not
to confuse folks because yes, one day is as a thousand years with the Lord.
I am a teacher of the manuscripts, and it is amazing to me that even many so-called
"Christian leaders" do not understand what they are reading in the first Chapter of the Book of Genesis. Yes, one day is equal to a twenty-four hour period. However, what people do not realize is that what you are reading IS NOT A DESCRIPTION OF THE FIRST CREATION OF THIS EARTH.
You are reading of God REJUVINATING an Earth that had been created eons and eons before that. 2peter tells of all three of the earth ages: one that was, one that is now, and the one to come, which we call "eternity". In the manuscripts, it does not say "the Earth WAS void and without form", but that "the Earth BECAME void and without form"; why did it BECOME that way? Because of the war where Satan rebelled and wanted to take the throne and position of Christ. That caused a great war.
When Satan was defeated, God could have simply destroyed all those children who followed Satan; instead, God destroyed that AGE that was: not the Earth, not the terafirma, but the AGE was destroyed.
God decreed that he would bring in a second earth age, where each would be born into the flesh to make an ultimate decision of who they would follow. When you read starting Genesis 1:2, you are reading of God rejuvinating this earth to ready it for this flesh age. You are not reading of the description of the very first creation of it.
It never ceases to amaze me that people do not understand even in the plain english, what they are reading. Biblical illiteracy runs
rampant in this generation, but of course, that was prophecied to happen just before the return of Christ, so be it. Look around.
This World is ripe for the Harvest of God.

Well look up the original Hebrew in Genesis. The grammer can mean nothing other than a 24 time period when it says day.
EXPLANATION:
In the original Hebrew the word used for day and year are the same word. To distinguish the difference they use context. When the word is followed by a specific adjective like "The second day" it can mean nothing other than a 24 time period or day. Plus when Peter is talking about a day is unto a thousand years for the Lord, he is talking about how God is not goverened by time.
(note: plus anyway seven thousand years is way off from 20 billion.)

Christians who fall away from the faith and belief in creationsim fulfill Prophecy. I do not believe that the scriptures you mentioned imply that 1 day on earth is equal to 1000 years on Gods timeclock or vice versa. The scriptures that you mentioned, Keeping them in context refer to the fact that God is not limited by our concept of time. Jesus said also that 1000 years with the Lord are as a day and a day as a 1000 years. What Jesus was saying is in Heaven, there is no concept of time that our human mind can fathom. Just like after the resurrection of Christ, how he could travel from place to place by thought. (see Luke 24:31, and Luke 24:37,38. Jesus appeared before the disciples as a glorified being, not a spirit. We grasp time because we see the effects of time. now imagine a world where time is not. God is not limited by a watch and we cannot understand His. And If evolution is fact, How come apes are still here alongside man? Didn't man evolve from an ape according to Darwin? Think about it!

Evolution took a lot longer than 7000 years.
Though it doesn't necessarily contradict 'creation' since an 'all powerful' god could have just as easily created evolving organisms.
The only reason christians refuse to give evolution a fair shake, is that most of them don't even know what it actually proposes. Instead, they just listen to the lies spread by creationist and 'intelligent design' websites.
That, and they take the bible literally, and claim it is 100% accurate (despite being translated repeatedly, heavily edited, redacted, rearranged, and finally misrepresented).

We tread a dangerous road when we start taking things literally from scripture. These texts say that a day to the Lord is like a thousand years to us, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can work it backward and say that therefore 1 day = 1000 years. We have to look at it much more generally and realize that the writers of these two texts, who by the way were different writers at different times writing for different purposes, were trying to say that eternity is vast and beyond our comprehension. There are many ways you could say that, but isn't this a good way to try to describe such a concept? How else would you describe the vastness of the Creative Power that created all that we see, feel, and hear, and continues to recreate it? Be very careful about trying to decode scripture or make it literal. It's not a code book ... it's simply there to speak to you through your intuitive heart.
Great question, by the way.

The only thing we can say for sure about the creation of the world is that it happened. How God chose to do it and whether the Creation story is a metaphor or an actual event are open to speculation as far as I'm concerned.
I don't think that makes me any less of a Christian in God's eyes than someone who takes Creationism literally. Since none of us were there and know what really happened, the best we can do is praise the Lord for giving us His beautiful world and all its magnificent creatures.

I think that God created the earth in seven days it says so in Genesis. I do not believe in evolution. The world is too complex to have it just be made there has to be a Creater.

Many Scientists, including Einstein, believe that the proof of God lies in the laws of the universe proven out by Quantum Physics. No humans in Biblical times could be expected to understand that, so Biblical explanations, especially modified by translation & Rulers, can be expected to be inaccurate. So evolution does't deny God, it shows how he works. Which is something we know very little about.

The verses you are referring to are used to show that time has no effect on God. He is outside of time. To the point of the rest of your question, in this late season of the church age, we have great apostasy, which was referred to by both Peter and Jude, specifically, as well as others. We need to take the bible literally where it calls for it, and symbolically where it calls for that. I believe the creation account should be taken literally, which would then oust the idea of evolution, and the millions-of-years-old earth theory. Check out the source I listed below, I think it will help you out with this question.

Dear stakekawa,
The earth is 13,019 years old to date. You may ask, "where did you get that date from?" From the Bible. Yousee God wrtote the Bible in such a way that those who approach it with a preconceived agenda or idea will be led down an erroneous path. Evolutionists approach the Bible as a "fairy tale" or mythical literature. They do not realize that the Bible is the very word of God. God allows the arrogant and proud to continue on their way to destruction.
That is why one must approach the Bible very humbly and pray, "Oh Lord, please teach me." If you are really interested in the age of the earth, examine Genesis 5 and 11. Here God gives the key to understanding how He deals with time in the Bible.
